USING RASPBERRY PI & ARDUINO BOARD
AUTOMATION OF A FARM & REAL
TIME ANALYSIS OF IT’S
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

ABSTRACT
For healthy growth of crops certain conditions should be favorable like
temperature, Sun Light, Water and humidity.
Global Warming is a big threat to crops and humans as well as
animals.
So we need to control all the conditions which might destroy our crops.
Light – Detected using L.D.R
Soil Moisture- Detected using Soil Moisture Sensor.
Temperature & Humidity- Also will be detected by sensors.
 Raspberry Pi would be connected to Internet and to Arduino to
add analog inputs to setup. Arduino would be connected to
raspberry pi via USB (Also this will be used to get data from
Arduino, serial monitor).
 A plugin then runs in the Server Density agent reads the data
from Arduino board, a complete set of readings is received (or
after a particular interval of time) – then the PI’s internet
connectivity allows it to report the data back to Server Density
for graphing and monitoring.
 When there is no light or very low intensity of light we can
supply plants artificial light, Researchers at Purdue University
claims that pink (Blue + Red) light is best for growth of some
plants (Click_here_for_Article).
 When Soil moisture decreases pump will automatically start
pumping.
 Temperature and humidity could be controlled using fans and
water sprinkler system.
 All of the processes will be monitored online like-
 Present Conditions
 Graph will be plotted
 Status of pump and Fan could also be
monitored.

FUTURE IMPLEMENTATIONS
 Adding a camera so as to monitor and view live video of plants online remotely,
 Measuring height of the crop (plants), so as to keep track of growth rate.
 Monitoring Atmospheric pressure too (though it doesn’t vary much but one should be prepared
for the worst situations.)
