Basics of a Blog
- 2. For this tutorial, I will be using Blogger to create a blog. Before you start blogging, you must first make sure that you have a Google account. Go to www.Google.com and sign up for an account.You will need to do this in order to make a Blogger account. I will be using my own blog later on in the slide show as an example.
- 3. First, go to www.blooger.com and you should come to the webpage like the one on the left. Once at this page, click on “CREATE A BLOG” to create your profile.
- 4. Once you click on Create a blog, it will take you to a page like this.You must use an existing gmail address in order to sign up for a blog. Follow the instructions on the page to create your profile. Later the instructions will tell you to name your blog and type in a domain name.
- 5. A domain name is the name of the URL that you will be using for your blog. It can be anything you want.You only need to type in the first part of the domain name, and the rest is already made for you. For example, a domain name might be “awesomeblog.blogspot.com”
- 6. Before you create your blog, you will be taken to a page that looks something like this. You can use this page to change the look of your blog. A preview of what your page will look like will appear below.
- 7. If you click on the Layout tab on the left, you will be taken to a screen like this. Here you can choose the layout of your blog. Where everything appears is previewed on the bottom.
- 8. This is your homepage once you make an account. At the top, it shows the blogs that you have and different options for those blogs.You may also add a new post to your blog by clicking on the “NEW POST” button. On the bottom half is a news feed for each blog that you are following.
- 9. This is what your profile page will look like to other people when they visit it. You can change everything on this page by clicking the “Edit Profile” button. To get to this page, click on the “Edit Profile” or “View Profile” button on the home page.
- 10. To create a new post, either click on the “NEW POST” button in the home page, or click on the “New Post” link when you are viewing your blog, located in the upper right corner of the page.
- 11. Once you click on the New Post button, you will be brought to a page like this one. In the body you can type your post, and you may also add pictures and links, just as you would in aWord document. You must give your post a title before you can post it.
- 12. Once you finish making your post and messing around with your layout, your blog will look something like this!
