Much like our Modern DCS differentiation model, we are also adopting a similar guiding strategy for Batch in our development and messaging. When we invest in the platform we have these strategic goals in mind.

• #25: A Connected Enterprise with Secured Information– This release builds upon features first introduced in v12 which take a design for security approach for batch production systems and intellectual property while helping the plant meet uptime expectations. The system simultaneously makes data available for continuous improvement analysis while protecting the integrity of data so that it can be leveraged in regulatory and quality control reporting.   In addition to best-in-class features this release also marks a significant ability for MES + Batch integration. The PharmaSuite ® product is able to successfully connect to the FactoryTalk ® Batch server through the use of an API. In the past traditional integration of MES and Batch had been done through OPC servers which added latency and presented challenges for validated environments. True integration by the MES enables the Electronic Batch record to be more complete by including data that had normally been buried in disparate batch logs up to the exception reports at the business level. Traditional MES exception reporting may have stated: “Off-spec temperature occurred on XX batch during XX time frame”, This resulted in the Quality and Compliance teams having to mine various systems to develop root-cause analysis and corrective actions. With true integration the exception report can become inclusive of not only the off-spec flag, but also build a relationship from the batch system to tell a comprehensive story including set-points, arbitrations, overrides, status, alarms, and trends all included in the initial notification.

• #32: The BAT contains different pieces and it is built as a fully functioning batch application that follows recipes, animates the HMI graphics and even prompts the operators. All this with the intent of showing the Seasoned Batch individuals how to take advantage of this complete solution for other Batch jobs Here is the overview of the BAT app. This is the main HMI display and it contains 5 different plant areas that the user can navigate to, as well as the “Batch Summary” and “Batch Detail” buttons to navigate to those screens
• #33: Reduce Design Efforts Because the toolkit use PlantPAx Library Elements, the FTView interface can be quickly developed. Reliable and repeatable Standardizing on a methodology helps in getting the build right the first time, but also reduces troubleshooting time, and training time. Built on Experience There are many ways to build a system, but this approach leverages some fundamentals that have proven effective over time.
