This document summarizes research on developing novel resonant elements for 5G reflectarray antennas with broadband capabilities. Two dual resonance elements called the Bent Width and Bent Length elements were created by bending a corner of a square patch element. Simulation results showed that the proposed elements achieved reflection phase swings of 629° and 632°, significantly wider than the 273° of a square patch element. This broader phase range can improve the bandwidth of a reflectarray antenna. The elements also exhibited progressive phase distributions when their sizes were varied, demonstrating their potential for use in a 5G reflectarray design.
