Step 2: Access our PSYC 101
Course
From the course menu, click on Week by
Week.
Click on MindTap Shortcut
You will need ONE of the following:
your access code (or have the ability to
purchase access) the first time you click on one
of the links.
Cengage Resources are identified with a
Cengage Learning Logo.

You may need to manually disable your pop-up
blocker. The steps are different for each internet
browser.

• What’s my Browser? This link tells you which
browser you are using if you don’t know.
After completing one of the three access options,
you will be taken directly into MindTap in a new
window. However, Blackboard will still be
accessible in a separate tab or window.
Please be aware that the MindTap screen will open
in a new tab or window, so you will want to make
sure that you allow popups.* Click Enter.
*If a new window does not open (or if it looks like
your page has simply refreshed), it means your
pop-up blocker is on.

Step 3: Login or Create Your
Cengage Account
The first time you try to access MindTap, you will be
asked to link a CengageBrain account with Blackboard.
• If you already have or had another course that
uses Cengage or MindTap, sign in using the
username and password that you created for
that class.
• If you do not have an account, you can create one
from this page.
Note: You only have to log in one-time. After this,
you will automatically be logged into MindTap from
Blackboard.
If you have previously taken this step you will be taken
directly to the payment options screen.

You will need to enter your 14 digit alphanumeric code as it
appears on your printed Access card (you will do this one time).

website. After paying for your course, you will then
need to return to Blackboard to access MindTap
again, then proceed to the next step.

Already have the printed access code that
came with your new textbook/?
Click Option 2: Redeem Access Code
Enter your 14 digit access code that you
received with your new textbook bundle, or
purchased from a course-specific website.
A code can only be used once and are valid for
6 months.
Students previously enrolled in PSYC 101 must
secure new access to MindTap. Please notify
your instructor before proceeding.

Want to use the Free Option?
Click Option 3: I’ll pay later
Choose this to start your free 3-week trial access to
MindTap and the e-book (which will expire on Friday,
September 25).
• Go directly to your course and pay later.
• You must choose this option each time you enter
MindTap during the free trial.
• You may end the trial at any time by redeeming an
access code or purchasing the physical textbook or
e-book before Friday, 9/25.
Once the 3-week free trial expires, you will not be able to
access the e-book or MindTap assignments after this
time until you enter an access code or purchase the e-
book or MindTap access.

Agreement
After you either select the free trial or redeem
your access code, you will be prompted to
agree to the MindTap Service terms.
After reviewing this informed consent form,
click Accept at the bottom.
You will only do this the first time you log into
MindTap.

• This app is good for students that want to study on their phone.
• You will NOT be able to copmplete your graded MindTap assignments.
• However, you can:
• Set Alerts to stay on top of your assignments and due dates
• Study Flashcards to keep up with the course content
• Access Practice Quizzes to prepare for exams
• Visit www.cengage.com/mindtap/mobileapp or search “MindTap” in Google Play
or iTunes to download the app.
• Log in with your CengageBrain.com account to link your account.
