JT’s Secrets to  Goal Setting
 
Goals can give employees control over their own jobs and, at the same time, give managers a tool for monitoring their employees’ performance.
Create Your Master Dream: BHAG
“  Can you tell me please which way I ought to go from here?” asked Alice. “ That depends a good deal on where you want to get to,”  said the Cat. “ I don’t much care where,”  said Alice. “ Then it doesn’t matter which way you walk,”  said the Cat.
 
Why?
Goals: Do what by when
To check our goals we have an acronym, S.M.A.R.T. S Specific You must clearly define the goal in specific  terms. M Measurable You must be able to measure your goal, so at to  determine if you have been successful. A Attainable You must believe that you can attain or reach  your goal. R Realistic Your goal must fall into the realms of realism.  It has to conform to the natural laws of life. T Tangible Using your senses, you must be able to touch,  taste, feel, see or hear it.
Actions Steps: Do what by when
We must now consider to get some momentum and forward motion in our goals is action Your action steps need to be: Prioritised Clearly defined A target date set Ticked on completion
 
 
Possible obstacles
The challenge is to establish the strategies to overcome these obstacles. You need to predict these in advance, so if indeed they do arise you are prepared.  Complete a list like this: Possible Obstacles Strategies for Overcoming To The Goal These Obstacles
Reward
 
Affirmations
An affirmation is a positive, present tense statement that supports what you are trying to achieve. An awesome affirmation includes your Goal, your reward and “YES!” Changes your whole physiology and make your body in tune with your affirmation when  you read it.
 
What barriers are keeping you back: What negative thoughts are in the back of you mind?   What is that wee small voice in your head saying: “ You're not good enough.” “ You don't have enough talent.” “ You don't have enough education/training.” Don't accept it. Don't listen to it. Forge ahead.  Turn those negative thoughts into positive actions generating phenomenal results. Surround yourself with positive people
The Roger Bannister Story 6 th  May 1954 – the first sub 4 minute mile run by Bannister He painstakingly researched the mechanical aspects of running, and developed scientific training methods to aid him He had 2 rabbits to assist him 46 days later – John Landy ran a sub 4 minute mile End of 1957 – 16 runner logged a sub 4 minute mile To date – 955 runners run sub 4 minute miles . . . 4700+ times! "My body had long since exhausted all its energy, but it went on  running just the same. The physical overdraft came  only from greater willpower.”
