- 2. NCATE requirement The National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) requires Teacher Education programs to assess candidates’ dispositions: Candidates preparing to work in schools as teachers or other professional school personnel know and demonstrate the content, pedagogical and professional knowledge, skills, and dispositions necessary to help all students learn. (Standard 1)
- 3. What are dispositions? Disposition is defined by Webster’s Dictionary as a: Prevailing tendency, mood, or inclination; b: temperamental makeup; c:The tendency of something to act in a certain manner under given circumstances.
- 4. The Dispositions: Collaboration Contributes to group and class activities. Assumes fair share of responsibility. Works well with in a respectful and productive manner. Is sensitive to others' feelings and opinions.
- 5. The Dispositions: Communication Communicates clearly, openly, and respectfully. Asks questions and seeks information in a suitable manner. Listens effectively and responds appropriately.
- 6. The Dispositions: Effective Work Habits Is consistently punctual. Follows through with completion of responsibilities without prompting. Adequately prepares for teaching and learning situations. Dresses appropriately for the situation.

- 8. The Dispositions: Reflection Engages in self-assessment through reflection. Responds to feedback in a solution-oriented manner.
- 9. The Dispositions: Interaction with others Relates well to peers, faculty, staff, students, and others. Shows some interest in getting involved with education-related opportunities outside of required coursework.
