This paper compares the Ich-Leach protocol with other descendants of the LEACH protocol in transferring images over Wireless Multimedia Sensor Networks (WMSN) using DCT-based JPEG compression. The study shows that Ich-Leach extends network lifetime, reduces energy consumption, and improves image quality during transmission compared to traditional LEACH and its variations. Simulation results indicate that Ich-Leach consistently outperforms the other protocols in terms of energy efficiency and quality of received images.
