SUBJECT : COMPUTER SCIENCE
CLASS : CP3T18
REPORT
On 29th
of August 2013, CP3T17 and CP3T18 are combined together in Computer
Science assignment on How To Create A Connection Through LAN Topology and Wireless
that was given by our lecturer, Mr. Syed Nasir. These are the sequences of minutes of the
session :
1324 - Each of the group leader of each tutorial are dividing some jobs to their classmates
before entering the computer lab.
1335 - Mr. Syed Nasir giving some briefing before the students started to create their
WLAN.
1340 - The students started to set up the connection through the wire by using four chosen
laptops. Before that, they have to arrange the wire before connect it to the Access
Point.
1345 - None of the chosen laptops has been connected to a network through the wire to the
Access Point.
1348 - When Mr. Syed Nasir entered to the lab for checking on his student, he saw that the
wire cabling are looked terrible and messy. Mr. Syed Nasir asked his students to
rearrange back on the wire cabling.
1351 - The students try to check the setting in the chosen laptop before connect it once again
through the wire. However, some of the students are trying to connect their laptop
with unknown Wi-Fi, even though the server is not have been completely connected
to the four chosen laptops.
1408 - Two of the four laptops have been successfully connected to join the network through
the wire to the Access Point. The other two laptops are still struggling to connect it to
the Access Point.
1413 - At this time, three laptops have joined the network.
1416 - One of the four laptops has been removed from connecting it to the Access Point
because it was unable to connect the network through the wire.
1420 - After the three laptops are successfully joined the network, each of group leader are
giving an order to their classmates before they connect their laptops to join the
network through Wi-Fi.
1425 - Seven laptops have been successfully joined the network through wireless.
1430 - Some of the other the students are interrupting the connection while the others
students are still trying to connect their laptops through wireless. This will make the
connection becomes slower.
1435 - Only eleven laptops are successfully joined the network through wireless.
1449 - One of the student are tried to share a file through the sharing network. Mr. Syed
Nasir said that the student should share their file with “READ ONLY”.
1305 - Finally, the students are able to share their file with the other connected laptops.
As a conclusion, the total number of laptops that should be connected to the network
is 33. However, only 11 laptops are successfully connected through the wireless. The other
remaining of the laptops which is 22 laptops are unable to join the network. This is because
their laptops are using different types of Windows such as Windows 8, Windows 7 Home
Basic, Windows 7 Home Premium and Windows 7 Starter. 10 laptops which are using
Windows 8 must be leader, which means it must be connected to the Access Point through
the wire in order to joined the network.
