CSE Breakfast discussed the following: 1) A review of 2012 product developments including the document viewer and formatted similarity reports. 2) An overview of upcoming releases in May and June, including print and download features for the document viewer and the ability to exclude sections from similarity reports. 3) Areas for improving the CrossCheck experience, such as providing more high-level report information and exploring ways to reduce analysis time.

Section Exclusion • Release planned for late June • Ability to exclude sections from a report based on section headings • Works similar to bibliography exclusion but for section headings: • Focus on two section headings: • Abstract • Methods and Materials + variations • (i.e. Methods, Materials, Materials and Methods)

- 8. Small Match Exclusion • Provides the ability to exclude match instances within document from report • Two match related exclusion options: • Small source exclusion • Source = match aggregate from a single source • Small match exclusion • Match instances
- 9. Areas for Improvement • What are the biggest problems you or your editors experience when using CrossCheck? • Do you/your editors have any difficulty analyzing Similarity Reports? If so, what are the main issues that cause confusion? • Does it take too long to review Similarity Reports? • Any suggestions on how to improve the CrossCheck?

Areas for Improvement • Ideas: • Provide more high level information before investigating a Similarity Report: • Display the highest matching source % (already available via API) • Display the word count # of the highest match instance •MTS development required to include these into their User Interface Example Screenshot
- 11. Phrase Exclusion • This feature is live • Provides the ability to exclude phrases (specific matches) from reports • Requires administrative overhead: • Ability to add multiple phrases to be excluded for a folder or account • Best used for commonly used phrases
