This document is a presentation on multiplexing techniques. It defines multiplexing as a technique that allows sending multiple signals over a single data link by sharing the medium. It describes three main multiplexing types: frequency division multiplexing (FDM) which modulates each input signal to a different carrier frequency; wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) which combines multiple wavelengths of an optical signal; and time division multiplexing (TDM) which assigns each transmitter a time slot. TDM is further broken down into synchronous and asynchronous types. Diagrams are included to illustrate each technique.
