A digipak is a type of CD or DVD packaging that consists of a foldable paperboard or cardboard outer cover containing one or more plastic trays for holding a disc. Digipaks grew popular in the early 2000s as they allowed for more creative album artwork designs compared to traditional jewel cases. While digipaks offer more design flexibility, they also tend to be more expensive to produce than jewel cases, so they may not be cost-effective for artists just starting out with limited budgets.
