What is e-learning?
The Ministry of Education defines
e-Learning as learning that is enabled
or supported with the use of
information and communication
technologies (ICT).

Key Tasks:
• Leading professional development in ICT
• Directing and managing current ICT PD Contract
• Providing advice and direction for school-wide ICT initiatives
• Fulfilling requirements of Lead Teacher in NEAL ICT PD
Contract
• Managing ICT budget in liaison with ICT Systems Manager
Why is e-learning important?
Information and communication
technology (ICT) has a major impact
on the world in which young people
live. Similarly, e-learning has
considerable potential to support
effective teaching approaches.

E-learning can assist the making of
connections by enabling students to enter
and explore new learning
environments, overcoming barriers of
distance and time

E-learning can facilitate shared learning
by enabling students to join or create
communities of learners that extend
well beyond the classroom

• Independence and personalised learning
• Critical thinking and multiliteracies
• Access to information, resources and experts

Friday e-learning e-mail
Every Friday I will email out a ‘Weekly e-learning
Update’. Emails will include:
• An e-learning strategy to try
• Upcoming Learning over Lunch topics
• Professional Reading recommendations
• A top tech tip
Updates will also be posted the blog
E-learning PD Blog

Monday Lunch Support
I will be available Monday lunchtimes in the
computer room if you have any one-on-one
assistance.
I will email other times I am available later this

Learning over Lunch
Wednesday Learning over Lunch session
Each week will have a specific focus.
This week:
‘Using Blogs for Student Writing’
– ideas, strategies and research findings
Online tutorials
Sessions will be posted on the ‘Teaching and e-learning’
blog as an online tutorial every Thursday.
Topics, ideas and suggestions welcome!
