This document is the syllabus for an English 102 college writing and rhetoric course being held in the fall 2017 semester. It outlines the course in 3 units over 15 weeks. Unit 1 focuses on identifying the student's rhetorical environment and writing a sense of place essay. Unit 2 has students research and argue a rhetorical problem through a macro-micro essay. Unit 3 requires solving a rhetorical problem in the community through a creative action plan project. Readings are from the textbook "Becoming Rhetorical" and various articles. Assignments include short response papers, outlines, drafts and presentations to develop the student's research, argumentation, and communication skills.
