This document discusses ways to increase student motivation and performance in university courses. It identifies issues such as lack of sufficient tutorials, complex subject matter, and demotivation leading to poor academic performance in a negative cycle. Potential solutions proposed include making better use of time between classes through group review sessions, additional peer-led mini-classes to aid understanding, positive reinforcement, and evaluating students differently at the start of their programs. Empathy mapping is also used to consider solutions from the student perspective.
