Text Analysis, “The Persistent Piracy Plethora” Self Evaluation

The text analysis essay was the second, and possibly the most important essay, I wrote

for my composition class; English 101. This particular essay was a turning point for me in my

belief that I could actually write a decent paper for a college level course, especially one as

demanding as this summer session had been. Part of the reason the paper was so important nits

because the subject, media piracy, is one that I have a good deal of knowledge and information

about since it concerns me personally, to a degree: I am a member of the combined actors

unions, SAG and AFTRA, and for the past 10 years media piracy, and how to disburse royalties

and residuals, has been an endless topic; and still is!

My goal with this paper was not only to to show my understanding of the subject matter,

but to convey the industry lingo and the judicial legalese in a manner that was understandable for

anyone who may read the essay. I feel I accomplished what I set out to do, and given more words

(I got them for my research paper!), I could have been a little more thorough. My biggest

struggle with my writing continues to be editing. I have no problem with verbiage and struggle

sometimes to edit out unnecessary and possibly repetitive information. That being said, I am

happy with the final copy and had little revising to do following grading.
