Patrick Henry was a prominent American revolutionary leader and the first governor of Virginia, born in 1736 in Virginia. He was a lawyer and politician who was known for his fiery oratory skills. Some of his notable roles included delivering the "Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death" speech, drafting the religious freedom section of Virginia's constitution, and serving as governor of Virginia during the American Revolutionary War, where he supplied troops and resources to aid the revolutionary cause. He fought for individual liberties and a weak federal government. Henry declined appointments by Presidents Washington and Adams later in life due to health issues and died in 1799.
