Evaluation
- 1. How effective is the combination of your media product and the ancillary tasks?
- 2. Representations in my media products. Within my short film I have attempted to create characters that people could easily relate to, to do this I created representations that would be easy to create on screen. The main character Jasmine, is a representation of the sort of person that I feel would be my ideal target audience. She has a fairly normal style and doesn’t challenge any ideals of a typical teen; I feel that this representation was easy to create and show on screen as it does not, as said before, not challenge ideals. I have replicated this within my ancillary tasks also, by including images showing Jasmine. However the images used in these tasks I feel represent a girl that is a lot older and has suffered, this is obvious through the look that has been captured on the still image. Rebecca, as a character, has been represented as a character with a strong attitude towards life, yet is vulnerable and shy to anything that could go wrong; this is seen in the scenes with her finding out the test results and through the lines of the poem, “some things you couldn’t tell me, you chose to face them alone”. I feel that this character was a lot better represented because she is one that a member of my target audience, being mid-teen years, could relate to. As an 18 year old myself I know that at times you can feel isolated from the rest of the world and that your problems are only your problems.
- 3. An effective combination? I feel that my ancillary tasks work well together and are an effective combination because they use the same colour scheme as one another and this helps to make them easily recognisable as for being for the same film. The fact that i have also included similar images also helps to create an effective combination. The tag-line on the both also help to create a good combination as again these are easily recognisable. I think that this helps to make the final products culminated together a very effective combination. The ancillary tasks are an effective combination, working well together as they demonstrate a likeness and are easily distinguishable as for being for the same film. However I do feel that although the ancillary tasks work well together the short film is not so easily distinguishable as the film that the poster is advertising for.
