Final Course Reflection
Assignment

Functional Outline
Using a functional outline taught me how to write organize my
writing properly. It was most useful before starting a writing
assignment.
Functional outlines will be most useful in the future when entering
a management position and writing to employees. I will always
remember the following four steps:
NEWS (WHAT???)
REASON (WHY?)
DETAILS (HOW?)
CLOSING (NOW WHAT? and/or HONEY)
The 5 C’s in Professional Writing
I learned perhaps the most important thing in writing is to always use
the 5 C’s. Those include being clear, concise, complete, correct, and
courteous when writing.
I tried to incorporate the 5c’s in every assignment in ENC 3250.
I will be using the 5 c’s in future writing assignments for different
classes.
Module 5: Designing Documents, Slides,
and Screens
The most important thing I learned
from Module 5 was how to create
and design a good document.
For example, when designing a
document there should be no more
than two different fonts used
throughout the entire document.

I used the skills I learned from
Module 5 in Analysis
Assignment #3. The
assignment required me to use
the skills and analyze a poorly
structured website.
I will use the skills taught in
this lesson the rest of my life.
Not only in my career,
however for personal use as
well.
Module 23: Short Reports
I learned how to organize a short report in Module 23. Organizing a
short report includes how to use an acceptable subject line.
In WA3 Assignment Draft, we were asked to write a short
recommendations report about potential books OCOB could choose
from in the future.
I also learned it is better to write a short report over a long one
because it is easier for the reader and something they won’t struggle
with.
Module 22: Finding, Analyzing, and
Documenting Information
In module 22 I learned how to correctly cite information. Along with
that just basic writing skills such as analyzing and finding information as
well.
An important thing to remember when finding information is to use
keywords. Using keywords simplifies the search of important
information.
The skills I learned from Module 22 will be especially useful in the
future when I am given an important task that involves research.
Module 21: Proposals and Progress
Reports
In Module 21, I learned the proper steps I should take when preparing
to write a proposal or progress report.
Some of these steps include researching the subject that will be
proposed before starting a draft.
This will come in handy especially if I am in a management position and
I will need to find propose alternative routes.
Module 12: Persuasive Messages
What I took away from Module 12 was that I learned the best strategy
to writing a persuasive message.
One would think it was quite simple to write a persuasive message
because the objective is to “persuade” the reader, however it is not.
