Finger on Trigger Script
- 1. Begin Flashback: INT. VICTIM’S HOUSE - NIGHT The Victim gazes in fear whilst on the floor. Eric with his face hidden points a gun to the Victim’s temple. As he does that, Kyle is witnessing the whole event, peaking under a desk. VICTIM What do you want?! Is it money!? I can give you anything! ERIC Look at the position you’re in. Do you think I’d walk out of here once you bribe me, and everything will be fine for you? Think again. There are some people who honor their words and some who lie. I came to do one specific task, and I always finish what I start. The Victim is about to beg for mercy until Eric pulls the trigger on his head. Begin Flash-forward 3 years later: INT. ERIC’S HOUSE - MORNING Eric is at home, in his bathroom, doing his daily chores. Washes his face. Combs his hair. Dresses smartly. Eric heads for the door, collecting his phone and house keys. EXT. ERIC’S HOUSE - MORNING Eric exits his house, locks the door and begins walking down the pathways. ERIC (VOICEOVER) Nobody decides who is born or who we are given birth to. Some live in luxury whilst some live through labor. My name is Eric. I never reveal my last name to anyone. I have a special job that is classified. A big house. I live in absolute isolation and solitude. The island I live on is a fun place for tourists to go to. At least it is not as noisy as the big city.
- 2. 2. EXT. BEACH - MORNING Eric sits by the coast, gazing at the sea. His phone suddenly starts ringing. ERIC (TO HIMSELF) Unknown number? He answers the mysterious call. ERIC Hello…? Hey, who is this…?! How do you know my name…?! It is my business to know why…! What even do you know about me?! KYLE (VOICE IS HEARD) Are you the man sitting by the coast, with a black trenchcoat over your shoulder, and your phone pressed so close to your ear? Eric hangs up. He checks his surroundings before rushing home. On his way home, he spots Thug 2 walking towards him. ERIC (VOICEOVER) The guy in front of me looks likes a foreigner. His pockets seem empty. There’s no way he’d pull a gun or knife. His hands aren’t in his pockets and his sleeves are too short to hide anything underneath. EXT. ERIC’S HOUSE - MORNING Eric and Thug bump past each other just as Eric reaches his house. Eric notices that his house keys are gone. Looking back, Eric realizes that Thug nicked his keys. ERIC Of course. Eric grabs an umbrella underneath his outside chair. Opening it up, he positioned it in place before the door that would make it impossible for anyone to see past. Eric retrieves a spare key hidden in one of his turtle decorations. He quickly folds up the umbrella before heading back into his house. INT. ERIC’S HOUSE - MORNING Eric locks and leans against the door. Entering his room, he
- 3. 3. rests on his bed. Eric receives another call from Kyle - the person who called him earlier. ERIC What do you want!? Who even are you…?! I should know you?! Three years ago…!? Was that you I bumped into on my way home…?! It wasn’t…?! Thought so. So the guy I bumped into is with you! All so you could steal my keys and gain access to my house…?! And I demand you answer me. What is your name…?! Kyle Brennan? I’ll mark that on your gravestone. Eric hangs up. He looks outside and notices that it was getting dark quickly. He then spots Kyle spying on him on the other end of the road, disappearing around a corner. ERIC (VOICEOVER) Whoever is after me knows who I am. He said three years ago. I’ve known many people but I’ve never heard of him. Anything could’ve happened around that time. The guy I bumped into is working with Kyle. It was only today that Kyle started going after me. Not sure why though. If that’s the case, I bet he’s coming at night. Of course. Night is always perfect for breaking into places. Enough to remain hidden and discreet. Eric heads towards his wardrobe, placing a stool in front. As he stands on the stool he uses a paper tube to grab a plastic bag that had been pushed far behind on the top of the wardrobe. He pulls out a black handgun from the plastic bag. After practising pulling his gun out in front of the mirror, he goes over to the power box of his house and shuts it off. INT. ERIC’S HOUSE - NIGHT Eric waits patiently by the door. The darkness blends in with his black trench coat. He is hidden behind a wall with a good view of the door. He has his phone out looking at surveillance footage from live camera feeds around the house. ERIC (VOICEOVER) The door is unlocked. They wouldn't expect me to welcome them into my house. There are two other doors. No
- 4. 4. bullets can penetrate through my windows not matter how many are used. I shut the power off to blend in with the darkness. They won't know what hit them. My eyes are too used to the dark. A car is heard pulling up to the house. A group of men are heard talking to each other. Eric listens carefully. KYLE Hurry up! He could be calling the police. Lets just kill him and get out of here…! THUG 1 Say, why is the door unlocked? THUG 2 He could be arranging a trap for us. Going in through the door is what he wants us to do. KYLE He could have a mounted machine gun ready to mow us down. But how did he get back into his house when we have his keys?! THUG 2 There must be a secret entrance. Lets split up and search. We’re not falling for his trap! Eric giggles to himself upon hearing their false theory. Eric backs against the door where he looks out of a window next to where he is positioned. For a second, he sees no one. He is then started when Thug 2 looks through the window wearing a creepy mask. Eric was fast enough to avoid being seen. Flashlight lights are seen through the blinds, moving around the outside of the house. Sounds of the intruders piecing something together can be heard. All is silent. Eric exits the house. EXT. ERIC’S HOUSE - NIGHT Eric searches around the driveway for the intruders. He spots the end of a rope that had been thrown and attached to his balcony.
- 5. 5. ERIC I should’ve locked the door to my balcony. Eric quickly rushes back inside. INT. ERIC’S HOUSE - NIGHT Kyle and his two thugs successfully infiltrate Eric's house through the balcony. KYLE Remember. Find that guy and kill him. Kyle and his men split up and search the house. All is seen on Eric's phone as he reenters his house and locks the door. Pulling out his gun, Eric slowly starts making his way up the stairs, checking every corner, and every room he passes. Before making another turn, he peaks out, seeing Thug 1 heading to his room. Thug 1 enters Eric’s room, closing the door behind him. He tries the lights but doesn’t work. He is just about to enter the bathroom when the door to the room suddenly opens. Thug 1 turns around but sees no one enter the room. The door closes. Knowing that someone is crawling on the floor, Thug 1 crouches beside the bed to where he suspects Eric is. Taking a flashlight out, he shines his light on the spot but sees no one there. A pillow is gently placed against his face. Eric is crouched beside him, holding the pillow against Thug 1 with a gun pressed against the other side. ERIC If you wanted to enter my bedroom, you should’ve just asked. Eric pulls the trigger of the gun, as the sound gets cancelled by the pillow. Both Kyle and Thug 2 exit one of the bathrooms. Kyle heads downstairs whilst Thug 2 checks another room on the second floor. Eric comes out of his bedroom and heads for the stairs. He inavedently kicks an empty can, creating noise. Thug 2 - who had been peaking from the room he entered - bursts out and opens fire on Eric. Eric rushes down the stairs, inaccurately shooting him, before hiding behind a wall at the bottom. As Thug 2 makes his way down to the stairs, Eric tosses a book - found beside him - for Thug 2 to see, who hastily shoots it.
- 6. 6. Eric quickly open fires, killing Thug 2, who tumbles down the stairs. Before Eric could make it to his living room, Kyle fires shots at him from the living room, but ducks for cover. KYLE (VOICE IS HEARD) Is that you!? ERIC That’s right! You’re on your own, now! It’s over! What is you want?! KYLE (VOICE IS HEARD) What do you think happened three years ago!? I left a task incomplete! I should’ve killed you back then! I have a question for you, too! How many bullets do you have left!? Eric checks his gun, noticing one bullet left. ERIC (TO HIMSELF) I’m screwed. Eric backs up when Kyle fires a few more shots at him. Eric is still unable to see him. Eric crouches behind his dining table, where he sees Kyle’s feet on the other end. Eric gets up, pointing his gun at Kyle, who shoots him first. With his arm wounded, Eric backs up against the wall. Eric suddenly notices the gun Kyle has, was his former gun. ERIC It’s you. Now it all makes sense. Unfinished business. KYLE Precisely. The only thing the police is going to fine is your dead body, with no witnesses. Eric notices his gun is on the floor, beside his foot. KYLE Do you have any last words before I paint the walls with your blood? ERIC Well…At least I can go down, knowing who tried to kill me. Eric drops down to the ground, avoiding the bullet shot. Scooping up his gun, Eric fires the final shot at Kyle,
- 7. 7. killing him as he falls back into a chair that was positioned behind him. Eric attempts to get up the the stairs but slouches against the wall with no energy left in him. Covering his grazed arm, Eric closes his eyes. INT. ERIC’S HOUSE - MORNING Eric wakes up to the daylight. Eric patches himself up, drags the corpses into his store room, scrubs the bloodstained floor, puts his gun back above the wardrobes, and throws away the other guns in a plastic bag. Eric then heads for his front door, collecting his phone and keys. EXT. ERIC’S HOUSE - MORNING As Eric walks along the pavement, he takes out his former gun from his pocket. Begin Flashback: INT. VICTIM’S HOUSE - NIGHT Eric shoots the victim on the head. Eric places his gun in the victim’s hands, before taking his latex gloves off, and heads towards the front door. Kyle comes out of hiding and comes to the victim. He gets a good look at Eric’s face. KYLE How could you!? Kyle takes the gun from the Victim’s hand, pointing it to where Eric had once been. Kyle looks back at the gun with vengeance, before tucking it into his pocket. Begin Flash forward: EXT. THE PAVEMENT - MORNING Eric analyses his gun. He gives a murderous smile, before tucking it back into his pocket. His phone suddenly rings. Stopping by a lamp, Eric answers the call. ERIC Hello…? Yes… You have a new job for me…? Where…? I was actually heading in that direction. Guess I’m making a detour… Have my money ready by the time I have your target eliminated. Eric hangs up. He pulls his gun out of his pocket, and slides it back in. Putting on a pair of sunglasses, Eric casually
