Mind map-potential practical problems
Specific practical problems
• Production not turning out as planned/hoped: This is an issue that for I would
find to be quite annoying and would definitely cause me problems. This problem
is more to do with the fact of completing my production for my FMP but then
finding out that I don’t like I or it simply hasn’t turned out the way I wanted it to.
If this could be the case for this production of my FMP then it will end up causing
me quite a few problems as I will have spent many hours and put a lot of effort
into my production to make it look as good as I can possibly get it to be and so if
it doesn't’t turn out to go as planned then it will send me all the way back to
square one, ending up having to start it all over again the main issue with this
would more be the fact that it would put me into a complete spin when it comes
to the production schedule for this as I would have to go back to the drawing
board and start over, not only this but it would also mess up my whole time
management as it is most likely I would have to go back and alter my
word/PowerPoint documents slightly.
Specific practical problem solutions
• Solution/alternate for if production doesn't’t turn out as planned/hoped:
• Before starting work on my production I should take time to plan it out and
make sure that I am 100% happy with how it is going to turn out.
• Set myself a good amount of time for production experiments and focus on
creating some examples of how I want my final production to look.
• Look at some YouTube video tutorials so I have an idea on what the techniques I
plan to use will look like in already existing production, this is a strong solution as
its giving me the chance to see techniques being used that I hope to use in my
production.
Specific practical problem solutions
• Technique not working out/looking as I had hoped- This is a practical problem
that I feel would come to causing quite a few problems for me especially if it was
to happen mid-way through production as it would result in my production
schedule taking quite a blow as I would most likely end up falling behind with my
production. The main issue for me if this was the case would be more the fact
that I would have to go back over and decide on a new technique of which I could
use to replace the tool/technique that hasn’t worked out, not only this but it will
also effect the time of which I have set myself for the production. Before I come
to looking for a solution/alternate for this production I feel that the immediate
solution would just be to come up with/look at some different techniques that I
would be able to use I could especially more focus on viewing some ‘YouTube’
tutorial videos.
Specific practical problem solutions
• Solutions for Technique I planned to use not working out as I had hoped.
• Take my time when I am looking at adding in a technique to my production of
which I have not used before, so I will be positively happy with it.
• Not only take time when using technique but make sure that I study the tutorial
video carefully so that I now what I need to do for it to work out well.
• If it helps write down the steps for the techniques so I don’t go wrong in any
stages/steps, by doing this I will have a better chance of being able to get the
technique right without faults.
• Alternate for techniques I planned to use not working out as I hoped.
• In case of original technique I planned to use not working out as I had hoped look
at more than just one technique so if necessary I have got something to look
back on as then all hope will not be lost.
Mind map-potential theoretical/creative
problems
Specific theoretical/creative problem solutions
• Falling behind with production schedule- The threat of me falling behind with my
production is a fear that has got to be one of the greatest fears of which I have with my
production work as it could result in there being quite a few problems for me and could
even result in me failing the final brief. The immediate main solution for me to stop me
from falling behind with my production would more be the idea to create a strict
production schedule for me to be sticking to but also work out an easy but detailed plan so
I will be able to stick to it easily and as a result hopefully not fall behind with production. If
the worse comes to worse and I do fall behind with my schedule it shouldn't’t be the worst
of situations as I feel that the worse case will result in me having to ask for extra time to
complete/finish my production work or in the worse case I will have to go back when I have
extra time to complete any outstanding work, but this shouldn't’t result as being the case
and I should be able to get all document and production completed in time.
Specific theoretical/creative problem solutions
• Solution for falling behind with production schedule-
• Plan out a strict production schedule that I will find myself easy to follow by, plan out each
day detailed so I know what I need to be getting on with during each days production and
won’t find myself falling behind.
• Focus on each day as it comes when looking at my production schedule, don’t rush with
getting it done, take my time and if I cant get that set days task done then simply move
onto finishing it of the next day until I am happy with it.
• Alternative for falling behind with production schedule-
• Come up with more than one production schedule so that I have one that I’d be
able to fall back-upon if my original schedule comes along to be to fast
paced/moving.
• Could turn to someone else to help me come up with a mock-up of a production
schedule but one that would be easy to follow by and not putting me in so much
of a rush with getting production complete.
Specific theoretical/creative problem solutions
• Unable to access resources needed- This is a problem of which I believe I would
see to be quite a big problem for me as if I don’t have the resources necessary it
could lead to me being unable to carry on with my production. The resources of
which I will require to carry out my production are necessary items and without
the resources I need it could halter me being able to continue with my
production and could lean to the end of my production before it had even come
to a start. The main substitute for me with this would be to more looking at
different resources for me to use instead of the ones of-which I am unable to use,
there is also a chance that this will put me behind schedule with my production
but If it is necessary then it obviously still has to happen as I want my work to be
looking as good as I can create it to be so I do well an fulfill myself with this final
brief. To make sure that something like this doesn't’t happen when it comes to
me starting my production I will be sure to look at other different resources that I
could use instead of the one(s) that might not work out as I am unable to
use/access them.
Specific theoretical/creative problem solutions
• Solution for being unable to access resources needed-
• Try different methods/ways to access the resource(s) that you need for your production,
sometimes it might be a case of me not doing something correctly/wrong method.
• If that resource is an item then be sure to have pre-planned so that I have the
resource/item ready for when I start production. If it is the case of it being a
software/something based around computer work then I should look at making sure it is
downloaded and ready to go for when it comes to starting production.
• Alternative for being unable to access resources needed-
• Aim to be looking at various other resources of which I could use for my production, don’t
just be pinning all hope on some (perfect) resource only for you to find out its not going to
work out.
• If I am unable to find any other good resources of which I would be happy with using as a
replacement of the one that hasn’t worked out, then I should more focus on the rest of my
production so I don’t fall behind.
Summary of potential problems
On a whole the potential issues of which I have listed in the above slides
are problems of which If occur then could be seen to be cause me quite a
few problems especially when it comes to my production, but despite this I
feel that with the solutions/alternates of which I have come up with for the
problems I have listed should end up sorting out the potential problems
that might occur for me throughout production. I feel that it was important
for me to list the above problems and solutions because with this being my
FMP I feel it important to come up with problems that I could run in to an
solutions because without doing so if I run into some problems then it will
halt me with my production and could lead to me not completing
production on-time and this is something of which I don’t want to happen
as with it being my final brief for the year, falling behind isn’t really an
option for me as I hope to do well with this one, hence why I have come up
with several solutions/alternatives for the problems that I could run into.
Production experiments
Caleb Wilcox
Production layout experiment
This here is an experiment example of how I would possibly like my game to turn out,
as you can see I have colour coded each area of which that I would see to be a level.
As you can see from looking at it in some place I would have to be including some idea
of a way for my playable character to be able to reach the different levels as the
majority of them vary between being higher up/lower down. Ideally the different
levels for my game will be more based around going up/down, however I feel that this
is something of which could maybe appeal to my audience and as such I feel is
something of which I would mostly likely look at exploring when it comes to my
production.
Production design experiment
This is a very brief look at an experiment of how I would like some part of my production
to turn out, this would impartially be more based around the earlier levels of my game,
this is because with this production I am thinking of more looking at trying to get a mix-
up with the levels and vary them more inbetween the good and
evil(happy/sad/light/dark) themes as I think this would be a more beneficial thing to do
as it will also help to widen my target audience. Not only this but I feel that it would give
my production/game a more positive sense/vibe which would again appeal to a wider
player/viewer spam.
Production design experiment
With this I looked at making a simple design example of what the background of some of
the other levels in my game might look like but obviously this area is more based towards
the (less happy and energetic levels), hence the attempt for it to look like a larva wall
which would give my game a more sense of danger and would most likely to intensify the
gameplay for the player, this would especially be the case if the background of my game
was to be alternating between a good/bad background/scenery.
