1. Introduction
This project is initially, to pretend that you are the mayor of the “X” town
where your current town’s people are overly crowded, which is needed to
propose a brand new town as a solution to solve the problem. This proposal
is a new layout for the new “X” town.
To be able to propose this town, we are required to produce the plan layout
following condition such as the size of the town, the population, and type of
a town, what types of grid systems are use and also not the main focus of the
town and zoning. And finally we are needed to present it on a video or
power point format.
This learning outcome also bring us more understating in the geography of
the built environment of the surrounding which included the landscape,
characteristic of the development land and the requirements to build the
existence of sustainable, which offer in this subject.

2. The City
1. definition
City is primarily used to designate an urban settlement with a large
population. However, city may also indicate a special administrative, legal, or
historical status.
2. What is the brief history
The building of cities has a long and complex history. Although city planning
as an organized profession has existed for less than a century, all cities display
various degrees of forethought and conscious design in their layout and
functioning.
Cities exist for many reasons, and the diversity of urban forms can be traced
to the complex functions that cities perform. Cities serve as centers of
storage, trade, and manufacture. Cities often provide protection in a
precarious world.
3. What makes a city / town
The city has to be truly functionally efficient to everything you need should
ideally be accessible within a few minutes’ walk, in order to be socially
effective.it should offer attractive choices and alternatives in everyday use so
that the inhabitants never need to get bored. The city should stimulate our
senses and our minds and offer us all the opportunities to engage with life in
all its aspects. Only then can the city be a sustainable container life.
4. What makes a good town/ township (guidelines etc)
 Taking care of the physical fabric of the town (including historic
preservation, improving pedestrian access and establishing open
green spaces)
 Promoting eco-friendly behaviors and investing in renewable energy
systems and environmentally sensitive infrastructure.
5. What is the future towns
For my future town, it’s able to access to facilities, communities, shops,
residential, institution and transportation in many way, as this utilities that
form my future town. Green infrastructure and urban planning thus play a
crucial role in my future town.

3. Investigation & Data Collection:
Ancient towns: CALLEVA ATREBATUM
6. When did it start? History and all
The large Roman town known as Calleva Atrebatum developed from its
Iron Age predecessor from the mid first century AD onwards.
7. What ancient town are you concentrating on?
Calleva Atrebatum
8. What makes it a significant town and what are the details?
This roman town has provided a significant characteristic about building
my town.
This town is base on a gridiron system which I apply in my town grid system.
There is a hierarchy town system built on it, which included important
buildings such as public baths in the south-east quarter, and an
administrative Centre (the forum basilica) in the Centre, a rest-house
(mansio) near the south gate, used by travelers on imperial business, and
an Amphitheatre on the eastern edge of the town.
9. Conclusion about the cities
In this town the communities are able to access on foot to most of the
facilities and services needed for daily living.
10.What information or element that you can use to your new future city
Applying the zoning hierarchy sector of the town planning and
implementing the gridiron system in to my town

4. Investigation & Data Collection:
Present Towns / township
4.1When did it start? History and all
Built in 1990s adjacent to modernist apartment blocks dating from East
Germany’s socialist era
4.2 What town are you concentrating on?
Kirchsteigeld, Germany
4.1 What makes is a significant town and what are the details?
Each section of the town has its own uniquely configured open spaces, this wider
spaces area are normally installed with green pocket
4.2 Conclusion about the towns
In this town residential area are built in a way that it has a large space for
communities to move around in every corner of the town and they are able to carry
out their own social activity
4.3 What information or element that you can use to your new town
Putting this concept in my residential area with large amount of space are
built within the residential area and able to carry out varies activity
Large areas with green
spaces installed around
the residential area
Streets and alleys of the
residential area are widen up to
give more space for people to
carry out their activity

5. Investigation & Data Collection:
The future of towns and Better Towns
Ludlow,England
Ludlow is the largest town in the South Shropshire District. It has a Norman
Castle, and a large number of listed buildings. While trading on its past to
attract visitors year round, it is also striving to look to the future, and in 2004
was given funding by Advantage West Midlands to build a new eco-park on
the edge of the town.
As a small market town, Ludlow is endeavoring to balance the conflicting
demands of the old and the new. Its heritage buildings are a key attraction,
while the town’s economy is being driven by its growing reputation for good
food. Its problems are common to many. It has a historic street plan, and
suffers from traffic congestion and unsightly parking. It recently faced strong
pressure from Tesco which wished to open a new store in the town. This case
study shows how a small community can create its own niche through
maximizing the potential for tourism, whilst striving to create an attractive
streetscape for visitors and locals alike to enjoy.
Population-10500
-street laid out were spacious dimensions in grid pattern
-wide market place
-1233 a circuit of defensive walls was constructed around the castle and
town
-implementing “cittaslow”:
 Origins in Italy
 60 goals relating to aspects of quality of life - ‘towns where it is
good to live’
 Quality infrastructure and environment to help people savour and
enjoy life at a human pace
 Using best aspects of modern world to preserve tradition,
environment and culture
 Hospitality and service
 Slow Food
 Ludlow is first Cittaslow in UK and now UK Cittaslow HQ

6. The New “X” town / VALOR TOWN
6.1 How did you came up with the solution to create this new town
Inspiration form city and ancient town such as:
Calleva Atrebatum Grand Canal of venice
Manchester City
6.2 What is the important characteristic and elements
6.3 Conclusion about the new X town
My town has the benefits factor in which normal town doesn’t really
provide.as my town facilities and services are walking distance for the
communities around the town and also green spaces are installed around
the areas to provide eco-environment
The river will act as
transportation system
and supplying cargo
Gridiron system
Main tourism attraction places:
plaza, park and the grand
fountain
Facilities such as
sport Centre
provided people
around the town for
the need of indoor
and outdoor
activities
Green spaces

7. Conclusion
In conclusion, objective of building a town is a very challenging factor in
architecture, many elements, characteristic and sustainable infrastructures
are needed to be consider when planning the town, and thus important of
layout planning is very crucial playing a long this roles of planning.
Even though my town has provided the facilities and services, as well as the
green spaces around, my work is still needed to be improve as many people
form my class have shown their talents in implementing sustainability in town.
As I do feel that one’s must not be too proud of the satisfaction of the work,
and also I have learned from other that, the important of a successful town
must have a hierarchy system planning of a town before building it.
