EFFECTIVE
COMMUNICATION
Conveys the message
quickly and clearly.
√
The message really conveys the students who
pass through since the topic is unusual to them.
The title alone triggers them to read.
ATTRACTIVENESS
Colors and arrangement
catch and hold interest.
√
The color harmony is really present. Through
this, students are enticed to read.
BALANCE
Objects are arranged so
stability is perceived.
√
There is the sense of balance. Border designs are
properly posted and all corners are designed.
UNITY
Repeated shapes or
colors or use of
boarders holds display
together.
√
There is high sense of shape and color unity.
Light colors are in front of the dark colors.
INTERACTIVITY
The style and approach
entice learners to be
involved.
√ The content of the board display is interactive
since there are questions need to be answered.
LEGIBILITY
Letters and illustrations
can be seen from a
good distance.
√ The letters and illustrations are perfectly
adjusted.
CORRECTNESS
Free from grammar
errors, misspelled
words, and ambiguity.
√
There are no erroneous grammars or any
misspelled words. The message can be easily
understand.
DURABILITY
Well-constructed items
are securely attached.
√
The display is less durable since only covering
cellophane is used to protect it. Directly hit by
the sun.

My Analysis
The board display design reflects the likes/interests of its target audience since it
focuses on nature. Though it seems common but it’s enhanced perfectly by the designers.
In addition, it is relevant to the message of the topic.
The language used is not jargon for the audience because everybody is somehow
acquainted by the counseling. In fact, one reading is sufficient enough for a reader to
comprehend the message it conveys. I believe the purpose of the board display was to
concretize and add the knowledge of the students about it. Guidance counseling is an
important factor of the school. It is the duty of the Guidance Counselor. It was and is
effective because students now are aware on when to refer if there are conflicts, fights
and other minor discord.
The only thing a can suggest is that Board Display must be covered with glass so
that rain can’t damage it. Also, it should be displayed on a vast covered building so that
sunlight can’t hit it which causes to fade especially its color. Thus, it would long last and
be used longer time. No much money will be spent, I guess.
My Proposed Board Display
Theme: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Phil. 4:13
Board Title: Nothing shall be impossible with God.
Rationale (Purpose):
To encourage students to put God first in their lives and trust God in everything
they do.
Objectives:
a. to encourage them to trust God
b. to seek God before anything else
c. to acknowledge God every single thing they do
Best features of my proposed bulletin enhancement:
My proposed bulletin display evokes the implied message, “Work hard and God
will do the rest”. It is common yet meaningful. It is one way of telling the students to
remember that God is everything we need.
Content Resources:
This idea is from the Holy Bible. My senses are captured with the message it
possesses and I just simply love the idea it conveys.
Materials for aesthetic enhancement:
For the aesthetic enhancement, I will use colored cartolinas, color pens, and
glitters for it to be attractive. Styrofoam and stick glue for it to last and rectangular glass
for it to be protected.

My Reflections
A teacher should have creativity, organizational skill, visual skill, communication
and minimalist view to be able to come up with effective board displays. A bulletin board
can be dry and boring that’s why a teacher should have a creativity skill for him to
present the concepts and context in an interesting way. Teachers should somehow like
interior designers; they must be able to visualize the presentation and impact they want to
create and then apply those to the display. This is what we called the visual skill. Another
skill is organizational skill. This skill goes along with visual skill but unlike visual skill,
this skill includes comparing and contrasting, grouping and arranging content in a
meaningful way. Communication skill is also needed. Teachers know that words
combined with visual content already convey meaning. Thus, this leads to the
communication skills a teacher should have. A teacher must be a good communicator as
well. Teachers must possess a minimalist view. A good teacher knows he must minimize
content to the basic building blocks he wants to teach. The display should be geared to
include students who understand the best, the poorest, and the hardest.
Out of these skills, I only possess one skill which is visual skill. From my past
experience with regards in making bulletin boards, I was able to visualize the display I
wanted to which I believed to be attractive and interesting.
The four remaining skill need to be developed. I don’t know how to be creative,
to organize, to communicate and to minimize content. So, from now on, I will attend
workshops and seminars if opportunity knock at my door in order to acquire the skills
needed to produce a creative interesting and meaningful bulletin display.
