Prerequisites for GATE 2018 Application Form The following details and documents are required for completing GATE Application Form- • Personal details – Name, DOB, Mobile No., Email ID, Parent’s Name and No. • Communication Address – with PIN Code • College Address and PIN Code • High-quality image of photograph • High-quality image of signature • Scanned copy of Eligibility Certificate in pdf format (Degree/Provisional Certificate or Certificate from HOD) • Scanned copy of Category Certificate in pdf format, if applicable • Scanned copy of Dyslexic Certificate in pdf format, if applicable • Scanned copy of PwD Certificate in pdf format, if applicable • Details of valid Identity Card (Accepted ID Cards- Passport/ PAN card/ Voter ID/ Aadhaar-UID/ College ID/ Employee ID/ Driving License) • Credit/Debit Card for making fee payment
- 4. How to Apply for GATE 2018? • GATE Registration – Register as “New User” and proceed as mentioned in the guide. After successful registration, they will get access to GOAPS with the credentials they entered. • Fill GATE Application Form – Login using GOAPS Enrollment ID and GOAPS Password and start filling GATE application form. • Upload Documents – Upload Image, Signature, Eligibility Certificate, SC/ST Certificate and PwD Certificate as per the specifications and requirement. • Payment of Fees – Payment can be done through credit card, debit card or net banking.
- 5. Step 1 – Registration Enter the following details as per the documents- • Name of the Candidate • Email Address (valid) • Country of Residence ( India Other) • Mobile Number • Create your Password
- 6. Step 2 – Filling of GATE 2018 Application Form Exam Details • Choose GATE 2018 Paper you wish to appear. • Now, select Examination Country and subsequently enter 3 exam centers. Personal Details Verify Email Address and Mobile Number. On clicking Verify Button, an OTP is sent to the registered email id and mobile number. Enter the following details correctly (as per the documents)- • Date of Birth, Gender, Nationality, Category • Person with Disability Status, Dyslexic Status • Country of Permanent Residence, State/Union Territory • Select ID Proof, Enter ID Proof Number • Name of Parent/Guardian (stick to the specifications) • Country of Residence of Parent/Guardian • Mobile Number of Parent/Guardian
- 7. Correspondence Address Add correspondence address for the future correspondence. Check the screenshot given below for the details that are to be entered-
- 8. Qualifying Degree Details Verify the details from the institute’s certificates and enter in the space provided. If you don’t see your college name in the drop down list provided, then type the name completely without any special character.

Step 3 – Upload the Documents Documents that are required to be uploaded are mentioned below- • Passport size photograph clicked in white background: 2-200 kb • Signature in running handwriting: 2-150 kb • Eligibility Certificate • Category Certificate wherever applicable: 10-300 kb • PwD Certificate wherever applicable: 10-300 kb The size and format of the images are mentioned below: 1. The photograph (3.5 cm x 4.5 cm) must be in JPEG/JPG format with maximum pixel resolution 480 x 640 and minimum resolution 240 x 320. 2. The signature must be in JPEG/JPG format with maximum pixel resolution 160 x 560 and minimum resolution 80 x 280. 3. Eligibility Certificate (in pdf format)- Final year mark sheet/Certificate from HOD/Institute. The file size should not exceed 300 kb. 4. Category/PwD/Dyslexic Certificate (if applicable)- The file size should be between 10 kb and 300 kb. Only pdf format is acceptable.
- 10. Declaration After uploading the documents, read the declaration and tick check box to proceed to the fee payment.
- 11. Step 4 – GATE 2018 Application Form Fee Payment The application fee is neither refundable nor transferable. It can be paid by any one of the following modes- • NET Banking or • Credit Card or • Debit Card
- 12. GATE Application Form Correction GATE Form Correction is a one-time facility for modifying particulars in the application form. During form correction facility, candidates can make changes in some fields like communication address, Graduation details and uploaded documents etc. Until last year, candidates could make some changes in the application but from now, no correction in GATE Application Form can be made once the application fee is paid.
- 13. GATE Application Form Status Exam authority allows candidates to view GATE Application Form Status after the final submission. Any defects or incomplete data can also be checked through GATE Application Form Status at the official website of GOAPS. Given below are the statuses of GATE Application Form 2018. Any one of the following messages will be displayed on the user’s window: • Received – Application form is successfully submitted • Under Scrutiny – GATE Application is under check • Accepted –No correction required, form is accepted • Defect Status – Marked defects to be rectified in the application form • Status after Rectification – Status of the form after making changes • Rejected with Valid Reasons – Application form which is not rectified within stipulated time frame.
