It is a computer system combining software, hardware, data, and personnel to manipulate, analyze, and present spatial data and information. A key part of a GIS is the person exploring the data to gain insights. The system captures data from various sources, organizes it, and allows the user to perform spatial analysis to create maps, models, and statistics.
