Online learning WHAT CAN BLACKBOARD DO FOR ME?   Add Course Information:  Syllabus, Faculty Information, Calendar, Schedule Learning Resources: Documents, PowerPoint Presentations, Audio/Video links, INTELECOM and NBC Archives Videos and Web sites  Collaboration : Synchronous and Asynchronous communications, Announcements, Discussion Forums and Real Time Chat  Evaluation : Grade Center Assessment tools  WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO TO GET MY COURSES ON BLACKBOARD?   Your Department Administrative Assistant will flag the course section as web-enabled. Web-enhanced  –use certain Blackboard tools, such as email and discussions to enhance the F2F classroom.  Web-hybrid  – combine on-campus instruction and web-based instruction. Courses meet on campus according to the published schedule of classes but also meet online using the Internet.  Web-based  - are designed to bring features of campus-based classes to students' home or work computers. The instructor provides information posted on a course Web site that guides the student through course content, prompts discussions, and helps students keep pace with assignments.  WHAT IS THE TIMELINE FOR BLACKBOARD COURSE CREATION?   Blackboard is fully integrated with Colleague.  Course shells will be available the day after they are requested.  Faculty and students are automatically enrolled and have access the day the class is scheduled to start.

Computer Login Novell Login (different than e-mail) Academic vs Admin servers (Networks and security) Lab/student computers (Access to applications) Faculty & Staff computers (individual applications – WIN7) January 7, 2011: NETWORK/DATA SECURITY IMPROVEMENTS: Isolating academic and administrative networks As a part of the college's on-going efforts to improve network/data security - and to better secure personal and confidential information - the Information Technology Services (ITS) Department recently implemented a change in the network configuration in order to  isolate the Academic and Administrative networks  from each other. The integration of the Academic and Administrative networks was identified as part of a recent IT audit as posing potential network/data security risks.
I: drive (shared drive) Shared drive for divisions and departments Complete an ISSR form for access Your division admin assistant or division chair can help you find the drive path to fill in on the ISSR
L: Drive (Local drive) Your individual storage drive. Holds your e-mail archive along with your files. Preferable to C: drive for storage because: The L drive is backed up nightly Accessible from off-campus

Groupwise Fundamentals Not just for e-mail! Includes a robust calendar feature for appointments and “busy searching” to schedule meetings. Spam and virus filter to protect your computer and CSM’s systems also.
Groupwise Fundamentals – Spam and Virus Filter     In one day the college received total 107,441 items.  Of this 100,331 were quarantined and 7,110 were delivered to the end users with out intervention.

Groupwise Fundamentals – Spam and Virus Filter The spam and virus server has a certificate that may not be on your machine. For now, please accept this certificate.    Report features: Release  -- release selected e-mail to your box. Allow  -- will allow that one senders e-mail address to be released to your box, automatically. (Whitelist) Block  -- will cause that one senders e-mail address to be blocked, automatically. (Blacklist) Allow Domain  -- will allow all e-mail from that domain/company to be released, automatically.  Block Domain  -- will cause all e-mail from that domain/company to be blocked, automatically.  Delete All  -- will delete all messages in spam and virus report.*
Off-Campus Access –  NetStorage Secure access to GroupWise, H, I and L drives via the web Allows users to upload and download files via a web interface. http://netstorage.csmd.edu
Off-Campus Access http://netstorage.csmd.edu The NetWare WebAccess screen will appear.  Username : This is your network UserID. (Example: johnd) Password : This is the network password you use to login when you first turn on your computer. Use your computer (Novell) login information!
