GUIDELINES FOR PREPARATION OF PROJECT REPORT
FOR
BBA/CAM V Semester
1. ARRANGEMENT OF CONTENTS:
The sequence in which the project report material should be arranged and bound should be as
follows:
1. Title/Cover Page
2. Company Certificate
3. Declaration
4. Supervisor Certificate
5. Acknowledgement
6. Table of Contents
7. List of Tables
8. List of Figures
9. List of Symbols, Abbreviations and Nomenclature
10. Abstract
11. Chapters
12. Objective and scope of the Project
13. Methodology
14. References/ Bibliography
15. Annexure
The table and figures shall be introduced in the appropriate places.
2. PAGE DIMENSION AND BINDING SPECIFICATIONS:
The dimension of the project report should be in A4 size. The cover should be printed in
black letters and the text for printing should be identical.
3. PREPARATION FORMAT:
3.1 Cover Page & Title Page – A specimen copy of the Cover page & Title page of the
project report are given.
3.2 Declaration / Supervisor Certificate – A specimen copy of the declaration and
certificate of the project report are given.
3.3 Table of Contents – The table of contents should list all material following it as well
as any material which precedes it. The title page and Bonafide Certificate will not find a
place among the items listed in the Table of Contents but the page numbers of which are in

lower case Roman letters. One and a half spacing should be adopted for typing the matter
under this head. A specimen copy of the Table of Contents of the project report is given. You
should create a table of contents for your report. This should contain titles and page numbers
for the main sections and first level subsections of your report.
3.4 List of Tables – The list should use exactly the same captions as they appear above
the tables in the text. One and a half spacing should be adopted for typing the matter under
this head.
3.5 List of Figures – The list should use exactly the same captions as they appear below
the figures in the text. One and a half spacing should be adopted for typing the matter under
this head.
3.6 List of Symbols, Abbreviations and Nomenclature – One and a half spacing should
be adopted or typing the matter under this head. Standard symbols, abbreviations etc. should
be used.
3.7 Acknowledgement: In the “Acknowledgement” page, the writer recognizes his
indebtedness for guidance and assistance of the different persons and members of the faculty.
Courtesy demands that he also recognize specific contributions by other persons or
institutions such as libraries and research foundations. Acknowledgements should be
expressed simply, tastefully, and tactfully.
3.8 Abstract – Abstract should be one page synopsis of the project report typed single
line spacing, Font Style Times New Roman, italic and Font Size 11. The abstract is a single
page that consists of the project title (center justified), a 300 word statement and a set of
keywords for your project. The 300 word statement should describe the problem addressed
by your project, a description of the work completed and a summary of any findings or
lessons learned. Below the abstract should be a line with the word “Keywords:” followed by
a list of up to 5 terms that you would use to describe your project.
3.9 Objective and scope: This should give a clear picture of the project. Objective should
be clearly specified. What way the project is going to contribute in the technical field has to
be mentioned.
3.10 Methodology: The write -up must include the Methodology for the project work. It
end with the concluding remarks-briefly describing innovation in the approach for
implementing the Project, main achievements and also any other important feature that
makes the system stand out from the rest
3.11 Chapters – The chapters may be broadly divided into 3 parts (i) Introductory
chapter, (ii) Chapters developing the main theme of the project work (iii) and Conclusion.
The main text will be divided into several chapters and each chapter may be further divided
into several divisions and sub-divisions.
• Each chapter should be given an appropriate title.

• This includes the basic terms and definitions. The subheadings may be appropriate
places for covering the topic under consideration. Suitable examples may be given for
better understanding. The figures and tables may be included for proper
representation of the topic
• Tables and figures in a chapter should be placed in the immediate vicinity of the
reference where they are cited.
• Footnotes should be used sparingly. They should be typed single space and placed
directly underneath in the very same page, which refers to the material they annotate.
3.12 Conclusions (RESULTS AND DISCUSSIONS): This chapter must include the
results of the project developed. The comparison of the results of significance of the results
should be discussed in this chapter. The concluding remarks may be included specifying how
the project can help the end user.
3.13 Annexure– Annexures are provided to give supplementary information, which is
included in the main text may serve as a distraction and cloud the central theme.
• Annexures should be numbered using Arabic numerals, e.g. Annexure1, Annexure 2,
etc.
• Annexure shall carry the title of the work reported and the same title shall be made in
the contents page also.
3.14 List of References –The listing of references should be typed 4 spaces below the
heading “REFERENCES” in alphabetical order in single spacing left – justified. The
reference material should be listed in the alphabetical order of the first author. The name of
the author/authors should be immediately followed by the year and other details.
A typical illustrative list given below relates to the citation example quoted above.

TYPING INSTRUCTIONS:
The impression on the typed copies should be black in colour.
One and a half spacing should be used for typing the general text. The general text shall be
typed in the Font style ‘Times New Roman’ and Font size 12.

The following suggested guidelines must be followed in preparing the
Final Report:
Good quality white executive bond paper A4 size should be used for typing
and duplication. Care should be taken to avoid smudging while duplicating the
copies.
Page Specification: Left margin - 3.0 cms
Right margin- 2.0 cms
Top margin - 2.54 cms
Bottom margin - 2.54 cms
Page numbers - All text pages as well as Program source code listing should be numbered at the
bottom center of the pages.
Normal Body Text: Font Size: 12, Times New Roman, One and half Spacing, Justified.6 point
above and below para spacing
Paragraph Heading Font Size: 14, Times New Roman, Left Aligned.12 point above & below
spacing.
Chapter Heading Font Size: 20, Times New Roman, Centre Aligned, 30 point above and below
spacing
