Set Priorities
To improve performance at work you must have the ability to set priorities and to separate the
relevant from the irrelevant when facing the many tasks of the day. You must also possess a sense of
urgency, the ability to get the job done fast.
Positive Mental Attitude
Another way you can improve your performance at work is to develop a positive mental attitude.
People like to be around and to promote employees they like. Everybody quickly notices a consistent, persistent
attitude of cheerfulness and optimism. When you make an effort to cultivate an attitude of friendliness toward
people, they will make extraordinary efforts to open doors for you.
Improve Your Skills and Knowledge
Improve performance at work by continually upgrading your work-related skills and
making sure that your superiors know about it. Seek out additional courses you can take to improve
yourself at your job and discuss these courses with your boss
Personality At Work site
Probably 85 percent of your success in the world of work will come from your personality
and your ability to communicate effectively with others. It will be determined by how much people
like you and respect you. You can greatly improve how other people perceive you by continually
looking for ways to boost their self-esteem throughout the workday. A little genuine praise and
appreciation, on a regular basis, will cause people to like you and want to help you.
Identify Your Blind Spots
Blind spots are areas we are unaware of about ourselves and may cause good
intentions to be perceived in a negative way. Blind spots can hold you back and prevent
professional development. To identify blind spots you must be willing to look at yourself
honestly
Aim for Clarity
Clarity provides confidence. Ask questions if you are not 100 percent sure of your
responsibilities. Schedule time quarterly to re-evaluate firm goals, how your responsibilities fulfill
those goals, and how you can better partner with team members to reach each goal.
Get a Mentor/Be a Mentor
Enhance your skills with a mentor. A mentor can offer new insight, perspective,
and vision. Working with a mentor will stretch your thinking and supply you with a stream
of self-development ideas related to your unique skills and talent.
Set Milestones
The road to completing a big project may seem overwhelming. Don’t let that stop you from
taking time to celebrate interim achievement. Break large projects into blocks of mini-tasks and set
individual success metrics to keep your morale and energy levels high. Record your progress, reward
yourself, and share your progression with the team.
Know Your Competition
Know and observe your competition. Identify what they’re doing right and use it as a
learning opportunity to implement something new at your firm
Practice Humility
Avoid self-promotion and practice humility. Encourage team members and hold a high respect
for their unique skill set and contributions to success.
Passion is one of the most important for success.
If you don’t love what you do, it’s difficult to put your best effort forward and
perform to the best of your ability. Ensure your values are reflected and respected in your
personal and professional life so that you see true meaning in all that you do.
Go above and beyond or Be Proactive
Getting right to work on your performance improvement plan is a good start, but going the
extra mile for your boss and your company will prove that you're willing to do what it takes to
succeed at this job
Ask for Feedback
Regularly ask for feedback from your boss and take recommendations and
suggestions to heart. Continually look for ways to improve your skills and enhance your job
performance. Take advantage of opportunities like executive training, professional
development or continuing education. This demonstrates a commitment to the company and
to your own professional enrichment.
Being a star performer in the workplace helps you achieve job
security, attain professional fulfillment and advance your career. Employers
look for dependable, hard-working individuals who show critical thinking skills,
are adaptable to an ever-changing workplace environment and have an
exceptional work ethic.
