Sometimes its because something
awesome has happened.

everything and are a zero.
Every day you
reinvent yourself.
You’re always in

We have to modify our
identities as we go
through life," says Ravenna Helson, a
professor of psychology at the University of California,
Berkeley.
She directed the Mills Study, which followed some 120
women over 50 years, proving in the process that it's never
too late to reinvent yourself.

It may be painful to accept a

Researchers from the University of Rochester found
that people working toward things are:

According to a series of studies led by Ken Sheldon, a psychology

“You have to give yourself
enough timeto actually accomplish your
goal."
-Art Markman, a professor of psychology at the University of Texas
at Austin and the author of Smart Change.
"It's the big picture things that give life
meaning," he says, "like parenting or becoming an
expert at something."
“If you don't have long-term goals”, Markman warns, “you run the
risk of doing lots of little things every day cleaning the house,
sending emails, catching up on TV, without ever making a
contribution to your future. That can leave you feeling
restless and unfulfilled.”

"Tami Green's life story of Borderline Personality Disorder recovery
offers hope and inspiration to those asking the question, "Can I have a
life with joy even though I have Borderline Personality Disorder?"
Anthony W. Bateman, MA, MD, FRCPsych
"Tami is supportive of others, listens carefully, and provides excellent
information about the roles that family members can play in helping their
loved ones to seek help and to recover. She not only gives hope to
others but also provides effective practical advice about how patients can
progress to recovery with the help of services and family members. We
use her small book on self-help for managing the symptoms of
Borderline Personality Disorder in my unit in the United Kingdom and our
patients love it."
Dr. Glen Gabbard, Professor of Psychoanalysis and Professor and
Director, Baylor Psychiatry Clinic
"I think your book, Self Help for Managing the Symptoms of Borderline
Personality Disorder, is an extremely helpful and practical guide for
people with the disorder. You are probably going to help a lot of people
John G. Gunderson, MD, Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School
"Tami Green is living proof what our research states: that those with BPD can and
do get better and stay better. Her encouragement to others to expect positive
results from treatment is to be applauded.".
Perry D. Hoffman, PhD, President of the National Education Alliance for
Borderline Personality Disorder (NEA-BPD)
"Tami Green has a unique ability to put an articulate and hopeful face on what, for
many years, was thought to be an untreatable clinical condition. She is to be
applauded for her commitment and courageous efforts to reach out to the BPD
community, clinicians, family members and consumers alike, with the banner of
hope and good news that a happy, meaningful life with BPD is possible."
John M. Oldham, MD, MS, Past President, American Psychiatric Association
(APA)
"Tami Green is an inspiration to us all, demonstrating that with courage,
persistence, and the right treatment, persons with Borderline Personality Disorder
can recover. Her mission, to spread the word that new research supports a picture
of optimism and hope, is just the right one."

“Seek out people
who have already
achieved the dreamto
which you aspire”, suggests Harvard psychology
professor Daniel Gilbert in his book, Stumbling on
Happiness.
“We dream about our documentary being acclaimed at
Sundance without considering the toil of producing it. We
all dream of victory celebrations. Few of us fantasize
about practicing.
These successful achievers can share the reality with you
both good and bad.”
