Google Keyword toolHow to use the Google keyword tool for keyword research.Wai Yu, Kwong 301051057
Why using google keyword tool:Researching right keywords is an important step for better search engine visibility of a blog/website.An aspect which is being used by professionals to receive quality traffic to a website through search engine. It will give you the analysis of amount of search for a particular given keyword phrase.Help you to find the best keyword to optimize your article/website for higher search amount in the search engines.A websites page rank on Google will be significantly improved, and more successful Adwords campaigns can be created.
How to use googlekeyword tool:The Keyword tool can be used to research both single keywords as well as key phrases. For example, a search can be made for “trip”, or “road trip”. Before doing the actual search, you will need to first specify some parameters. 1. Select the country and language you would like to perform the search in. Click on the ‘Advanced Options’ button for drop down lists of countries and languages. One country and one language can be selected, or the selections can be cleared for global results.
How to use googlekeyword tool:2.Next, select the ‘Match Types’. To research only “trip” or “road trip”, check the [Exact] box. Selecting ‘Broad’ or “Phrase” may bring up inaccurate results because Google will research whole phrases that include your keywords or key phrase. To help reduce inaccurate results you may also check the ‘Only show ideas closely related to my search terms’ box located just below the box where you enter your keyword or phrases
How to use googlekeyword tool: Now enter either your keyword or phrase in the box titled ‘Word or phrase’, or enter a website in the box to the right of it. Enter only one keyword or key phrase on one line. Enter them as a list. By entering a website, Google will return the keywords and phrases most commonly associated with that website. This is very useful for analyzing competitor websites. If entering a website for analysis, you can also select the ‘Match Types’ , as well as the Country/Location and Language.
How to use googlekeyword tool: 3.To further specify the results that Google will generate based on your entries, you can enter keywords to exclude. In earlier versions of the Keyword tool this function was called ‘negative keywords’. For example, if you perform a search on the word “maps”, some of the results that Google returns will include terms such as [googlemaps], or [bing maps] In that case you can enter the results you do not want into the ‘Exclude terms’ box, in the left column above the ‘Match Types’ selection you made previously. You can do the same with words you do want to include. For example, if you do want to search for the keyword “maps” associated with Google, you would then enter “google” into the ‘Include terms’ box. You can remove included or excluded terms by clicking on the ‘x’ button next to the term under the corresponding boxes.
analyzing your keywords or key phrases1.First, you can choose the columns you would like displayed by clicking on the ‘Columns’ button to the right and above the column titles, then clicking on the column titles in the small popup screen.2.The column ‘Global Monthly Searches’ shows all the searches on your keywords or phrases, while the ‘Local Monthly Searches’ display results for the Country and/or Language you have specified. If no Country or Language is specified both columns will have the same results. Columns can be sorted by clicking on the bold column heading. Sorting criteria can also be selected by pressing the ‘Relevance’ button located next to the ‘Columns’ button, above the column headings.
analyzing your keywords or key phrases3. Finally, the keyword list along with the corresponding data can be downloaded for further analysis or for record keeping. Again, the ‘Download’ button is located above the column headings, but this time to the right of the columns. Certain keywords can be selected by checking the boxes next to them, or all keywords can be selected simultaneously when the ‘Download’ button is pressed. The data can then be downloaded in various formats. The data can be used for determining content for Google AdWords, as well as positioning websites and blogs for higher ranking in Google
Some things to keep in mind:1.First, the data pertains only to Google keyword and key phrase searches. It does not apply to other search engines such as Yahoo or Bing.2. Next, the results are historical. Even though Google provides search trend information as well as the rough number of searches performed (both global and local), the trends and searches may be different in the future, particularly if a significant social, political or environmental event occurs on a global scale. 3.Lastly, match types and filters will have an effect on the results. It may be helpful to perform several searches using different filters to see their impact on the results.
