This paper proposes a new hybrid islanding detection method that combines the rate of change of frequency (RoCoF) as a passive technique with load impedance injection as an active technique to improve detection of islanding events in distributed generation systems. The method enhances rapid detection and effectiveness in scenarios with minimal power mismatch and employs quick responses for tripping mechanisms. Simulation results demonstrate its efficacy in various fault conditions, ensuring reliable operation and safety within the power distribution system.
