Teaching
Approaches and
Methods
3
At the end of my discussion
my classmates will:
1. define what is deductive and inductive
methods;
2. choose what method is the best to be used;
and
3. apply those methods in the near future.
4
Introduction:
• It contains some
important methods
that you can apply in the
future, soon if you will
become a teacher already.
5
•It will also broaden
and widen your
knowledge and give a
crystal clear
explanation about the
following method.
6
DIFFERENT
METHODS
Methods of teaching can also
be grouped into Deductive
and Inductive method.
7
Deductive Method
- general to the specific
example or activities.
- it is more traditional
form of teaching.
8
- is a very teacher-centered
approach.
-it is time saving kind of
teaching method.
9
- you may begin your lesson
with a generalization, a rule,
a definition and ends with
examples and illustrations or
with what is concrete.
10
Inductive Method
- reverse of deductive
method.
- specific example or
activities to general.
11
- is a much more
student-centered
approach and make
use of a strategy
known as noticing.
12
According to Principles of
Teaching 1:
- it is reality a
discovery method.
13
- you begin your lesson with
example, with what is known,
with the concrete and with
details. You end with the
student giving the
generalization, abstraction or
conclusion.
14
 Which between
the two groups
of teaching
methods is
more
interactive?
15
 Which
engages
students to
talk, think
and do
more?
16
• Which is the best method?
17
 We can use it in the near future,
when we become a teacher already.
We can also used it when delivering
our reports.
18
 It is very
useful in delivering
particular topics
to lead into
your intended
outcome.
19
“ Teach success before teaching
responsibility, teach them to think.
No child wants to fail, everyone
wants to succeed.”
