Why Agile?
Drawbacks of Traditional Framework:
 More Rigid and it always follows top-down approach
 More Commanding and Controlling style of Leadership
 Follows Spoon-feeding methodology, i.e., the management tells everyone what has to be done
 Document-oriented and Document-driven
 Resistant to changes
 More serious about the processes and not the product
 Heavy Documentation
 More focus on ‘How’ than ‘Why’
Because of the above drawbacks, Agile Practices were discovered for increasing the work efficiency in any company
Slide 7 Twitter @edurekaIN, Facebook /edurekaIN, use #askEdureka for Questions www.edureka.co/pmi-acp

PMI v/s PMP
The differences between PMP and PMI-ACP are:
PMP PMI-ACP
You monitor projects but you do not interact with
complete team
You are leading team and interact with each team
member on regular basis
You only look at results which team produces You are responsible for your teams productivity
You do not get into details of how the software
develops and the coding issues
You are responsible to ensure that your team uses
right development practices so the productivity gets
enhanced
You are working on system integration, main role is to
identify and solve dependencies
You are working as Project Manager of development,
your main role is to ensure delivery
You need to prepare, plan and monitor the complex
projects
You do prepare status reports but they are not that
complex
You need to interact with many stakeholders Your management is moving towards agile, they want
to be lean as soon as possible.

Editor's Notes

  • #16: There is currently a shortage of professionals who understand Agile correctly and are able to implement the process in the current Project Management sense. Therefore for professionals who already have an understanding of Agile as developers or Project Managers, PMI-ACP® provide a platform to showcase their credentials. The Agile community is growing and the world has begun to heavily implement Agile methodology at a rapid pace to execute projects in a dynamic environment. PMI-ACP® is one of the few certifications which crosses the methodological boundaries and does not focus on only one of the methods (usually Scrum).  Agile on the other hand is an overarching framework that is a collection of methods such as Scrum, XP, Lean, Kanban, Chrystal Clear, DSDM, and more. Most companies tend to use multiple or a blend of these methodologies so the PMI-ACP® certification provides a more comprehensive coverage of these tools, skills and knowledge areas. The certification requires demonstration of actual experience with Agile instead of being training related only. Instead of only attending training and being certified (actually referred to as a ‘certificate’ in the certification arena) you have to demonstrate experience with Agile and pass a comprehensive examination with an accredited certification body. The salary of a certified PMI-ACP is about  28% higher than that a non-certified professional. PMI-ACPs are highly valued in the industry, which is why they receive such a higher pay. There is no doubt that becoming certified as a PMI-ACP certainly pays off.
