Considerations;
Planning is How, What and Who. Scheduling is When and Why
Estimate – Subject to Ongoing Reconciliation Throughout the Project
WFP (planning) Methodology Should Be Fit For Purpose
Coding Structure - Project Specific. Tied to EVM. Tied to schedule
Cost Breakdown Structure - Increases Details of Monitoring and Cost Control
What Level of Schedule is Required? Client; L2/3. Contractor; L5
Preliminary Schedule – all WP are tied into Logic Diagram and Critical Path.
Ie – can WP’s be completed with available resources, schedule?
Must Consider Earliest Start and Finish Dates of Every Activity in the Network
Kickoff Alignment With Client/Contractor Recommended

What work will be performed?
How will work will be performed?
In what sequence will work be performed?
Who will perform the work?
FIWP is a Project Deliverable
• Defined Schedules – Includes Detailed Engineering,
Procurement, and Construction Schedule
Must be an Intergrated Schedule where Engineering
Is sorted by Discipline, Grouped by Systems/Areas
depicting System Completion & Turnover Requirements
• Baseline Schedule is Mapped to Current Schedule
To Avoid Slippages. Consider it an Early Warning
• Also Provides Basis for S Curves and Histograms to
Keep Schedule on Track (EVM) (Coding)
• Float Identifies the Extent any Activity can be delayed
And Not Impact Completion of the Project
• Float is the product of the Critical Path Analysis
• Float belongs to the Project. Not the Contractor or Owner
• Resource Scheduling Utilizes Schedule Float. Defines
Which Resources Be Used on Specific Tasks and Evaluates
Effects of Limited Staffing, Equipment and Material Delivery
