Footage: Is appropriate for target audience, mostly fitting genre conventions of drama/thriller well. Controlled use of camera although some shots out of focus. Editing: Editing started well, building tension, however pace was lost towards the end. Sound: Good choice of non-diegetic soundtrack, however dialogue was hard to hear in many parts. Would have benefited from re-dubbing sound. Overall: A proficient thriller piece, however much more attention to mise en scene needed, the location choice did not work well for genre or sound. Evaluation – Comments and mark out of 15/20 Question 1: Answered using a video blog via youtube. Candidate offers clearly thought through analysis on how his film opening conforms and challenges his genre of action, comparing them well to real media products. Question 2: Answered using power-point and slideshare. Candidate explains well which social groups are represented in his film. Good inclusion of how costume and location could be interpreted as well as acknowledging that he may have challenged too many conventions in order for his target audience to find the film opening believable. Question 3: Answered using word and Calameo. Candidate explains well that Vertigo Films would be best to distribute his film using some good examples. Question 4: Answered using a mind map created in photoshop. Candidate provides good insight to his stereotypical audience member’s likes and hobbies. Question 5: Answered using a podcast focus group via soundcloud. Candidate recorded his target audience answering a series of questions. Good inclusion of both a male and female. This would have benefited from some concluding analysis of the results. Question 6: Answered using prezi. All technologies have been covered well with good reflection on how each piece was used. Question 7: Answered using podcast via soundcloud. Candidate provides a reflective piece explaining what he has learnt throughout his journey from preliminary to final task. Overall a proficient evaluation made with a good range of technologies, well done. Total 65/100 Grade: C
