Learning is a process by which individuals acquire knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary to meet the demands of life. It is influenced by individual, task, and method variables. Individual variables that affect learning include maturation, age, sex, previous experience, capacity, family background, and mental fatigue. Task variables include the length, meaningfulness, difficulty level, and organization of material. Method variables that impact learning are spaced vs. massed learning, whole vs. part learning, practice and recitation, and extent of learning.
