What is an Animation Effect?
• An animation effect defines how each object will
behave or move on the slide.
What is the Animation Tab?
The Animations tab contains commands and
options that are used for specifying and
modifying the animation effects.
Preview Advanced Animation Timing
Animation
The Animation group contains
options for applying animation
effects to a selected slide.
Four Types of Animation Effects
Applying Animation Effects
To apply an animation effect:
Select an object on the slide.

Click on the Preview button to test the
animation effect.

Modifying Animation Effects
The behavior and sequence of the
animation effects can be modified
through the use of the different
commands and options on the
Advanced Animation group.
To add an animation effect to an object:
Select the object that has an existing animation.
Step 1
On the Advanced Animation group, click on the
Add Animation command.
Step 3
Go to the Animations tab.
Step 2
To add an animation effect to an object:

Select an animation effect from the list.

Click on the Preview button to test the animation effects.

To define the object that will trigger the
animation effect:
Select the object that has an existing animation.

On the Advanced Animation group, click on the
Trigger button.

Go to the Animations tab.

animation effect:
Select an object from the list.

Point to On Click of.

To define the object that will trigger the
animation effect:
Click on the Slide Show button to test
the trigger.

The number will
change into a
lightning bolt to
indicate that the
object has a trigger.

Select the object that has an animation effect.

On the Advanced Animation group, click on the
Animation Painter button.

Go to the Animations tab.

to be copied to.

Click on the Preview button to test the

Adjusting the Animation Timing
The animation timing and
sequence can be modified
with the use of the different
options of the Timing group.
To define how the animation will start:
Select the object that has an animation effect.
Step 1
On the Timing group, click on the down arrow
of the Start control.
Step 3
Go to the Animations tab.
Step 2
To define how the animation will start:
Click on the Slide Show button to test the
animation effect.
Step 5
Select an option from the list.
Step 4
To define how the animation will start:
To set the duration of the animation:
Select the object that has an animation effect.
Step 1
On the Timing group, click on the arrows of the
Duration control.
Step 3
Go to the Animations tab.

To set the duration of the animation:
Click on the Preview button to test the
animation effects.

Specify the duration in seconds.
Step 4
To set the duration of the animation:
To set the time when the animation will start:
Select the object that has an animation effect.

On the Timing group, click on the Delay box and
specify the animation delay in seconds.

What is the Animation Pane?
The Animation Pane
contains a collection of
options for organizing
the animation effects
on the slide.
On the Advanced Animation group, click on
the Animation Pane button.

To test the animation on the slide:
Display the
Animation Pane.

that you want
to move.
