Photoresistor (LDR - Light Dependent Resistor) is a resistor, made of a homogeneous semiconductor material, whose resistance changes under the incident of an incident light flux. It is based on the phenomenon of photoconductivity through which under the influence of light radiation free electrons are released which increase the electrical conductivity of the semiconductor and implicitly decrease the resistance of the resistor (it is an application of the internal photoelectric effect).
