An intranet is a private computer network within an organization that securely shares the organization's information and network operating system using Internet protocols. It may host internal websites and applications to improve employee productivity and communication. Intranets allow information to be distributed to employees as needed rather than through email.
An extranet extends an organization's intranet to selected external partners via the internet while isolating access from other internet users. A private network uses non-public IP addresses and requires NAT or a proxy to connect to the internet.
Leased lines provide dedicated symmetric connections between locations for a monthly fee, unlike traditional phone lines. They ensure a given quality level and are often used for business connectivity or high-speed internet access
