A polymer is formed from smaller molecules called monomers linking together. For example, individual BART train cars are like monomers - when joined together they form a full polymer train. Students were assigned different macromolecules to research - including the monomer, description, examples, uses by cells/organisms and key points. They had 25 minutes for research. Then students spent 20 minutes doing a gallery walk to copy down notes on each macromolecule from the other groups. They were to answer review questions and list the four main macromolecules, their functions, monomers, and the connection between polymers and monomers.
