  • #12: As of today, we have 97 Magento Solution Partners that have been trained on Magento 2.0. And we’re adding more virtually every day. • #14: These developers and technology partners from around the world are making key functionality available for all major categories so that with the launch of Magento 2.0, merchants have access to everything they need to run a successful business
  • #15: Now let’s dig into the highlights of Magento 2.0.
  • #16: In developing Magento 2.0, we were fortunate to have an incredible foundation to build upon. But to stay ahead of a changing landscape, we knew we had to do even more to help customers grow, innovate and adapt at scale. That’s why we placed so much emphasis on ensuring that Magento 2.0 would deliver innovation through our open flexible platform, business agility that retailers need, and scalability & performance for our customers.
  • #17: Let’s walk through highlights of Magento 2.0’s benefits for each key group in our ecosystem, starting with merchants.
  • #18: For merchants, these improvements will enable faster time to market, greater flexibility to create engaging and unique shopping experiences and easier upgrades to ensure you have access to the latest functionality to help your business grow
  • #19: Best-in-class checkout to improve conversion rates Two-step, intuitive flow Easier customizations Improved payment gateway integration To start, we automatically assume Guest Checkout, which is an industry best practice that saves shoppers a step They can also visually preview items in their cart during the checkout process to reduce cart abandonment
  • #20: Registered customers are automatically identified via their email address and have the option to login to use their saved account information for faster checkout, or they can continue with a guest checkout
  • #21: Speaking of checkout, we’ve made a number of improvement to payment gateways Now Magento2 supports only: Third-party embedded APIS iFrame hosted by a third party And third-party hosted payment page All of which makes it easer for merchants to achieve PCI compliance
  • #22: In terms of improving product page experience for shoppers … You can enhance your product merchandising and create a more immersive experience for your shoppers by adding product videos. You can do this by simply adding your YouTube or Vimeo URL’s – no development or integration required
  • #23: As we’ve communicated in the past, we took a comprehensive approach to improving performance and scalability for both the shopping experience and the backend Admin…
  • #24: These changes have delivered measureable improvements in page load performance for catalog and checkout pages. Catalog pages display up to 56% faster than page load times on Magento Enterprise Edition 1.14.2. The full checkout flow is also 28%-53% faster for registered and guest checkouts.
  • #25: In terms of scalability, you can see that catalog scales to 3.5M page views/hour – which is 150% more than Magento 1 Magento 2.0 scales to 250K orders/hour which is 117% more than Magento 1
  • #26: If you had installed Magento2 from our public GitHub, you may have seen that Magento2 Admin Panel now has the New Look& Feel. According to the modern trends Admin Panel has modern flat design, it is more touch-friendly and we constantly improving the usability of the system.
  • #27: An example of the improvements made to the admin is the new configurable data tables for products, orders and customer data. Now any user of the system can configure and customize columns and turn on/off those that are most useful. After they’ve configured the columns exactly how they want them, they can save that view and get back to it with a single click.
  • #28: Also we have dramatically improved the product creation flow, Allowing you to create variations by size, color etc and creation products based on many attributes as needed on the fly.
  • #29: Not only has the platform been generally available since November 18th but we have over a dozen merchants live on the new Magento platform some of whom you see here and many more coming online in the next few months.
  • #30: You may remember the “Buy a Feature” game last year, product import/export was your top vote and we’ve now made it easier and faster to work with. Now it supports the update of the cross-sells, up-sells, and related products with multiple values per SKU Multiple images can be imported both from local and external storage Multiple custom options can be imported in a single row And simplified import of the configurable products and their prices Did we mention it’s 4 x faster
  • #31: Let’s turn now to how Magento 2.0 is going to make life better for Magento solution partners and developers.
  • #32: Magento 2.0 is a modern, mature platform that uses popular frameworks and coding patterns, and adheres to industry coding standards -- which makes it more accessible to developers allowing them to build engaging sites. We’ve just released Magento 2.0.1 – we fully support PHP 7
  • #33: Magento 2.0 also offers new ways to simplify customizations… through modular code base, service contracts & API’s
  • #34: In addition to multiple responsive themes out of the box, We’ve also simplified the front-end customization process with multi-level theme inheritance. [CLICK] Create a new theme by specifying changes to an inherited base theme Simplifies customization by focusing on changes only Reduces code duplication Enables fast creation of themes for Multi-brand businesses International expansion Special campaigns
  • #35: Speaker: Paul Our more modular code base, service contracts, and other architectural changes also means that there is less risk of breakage when upgrading between Magento 2.0 releases or adding new extensions. This will give you the freedom to upgrade more frequently and turn to the Magento ecosystem for new features and capabilities to grow your business. And, we’ve made the actual upgrade and installation process better with a new standalone installer that will check for required code and potential conflicts before starting. This let’s you know what changes may be needed upfront, so there are no “surprises” when you install new code.
  • #36: My last piece of business is sharing a brief overview of our 2016 Roadmap for Magento Digital Commerce.
  • #37: Here are the main strategic themes we’re focusing on… (speak to bullets) I also want to highlight a major shift in our release strategy as we move from Magento 1x to Magento 2x. We are committed to a quarterly release cadence which will include new functionality with each release. In the weeks and months ahead, we’ll provide visibility into what’s coming by quarter. You’ll know what we’re building into the platform, which will help you avoid investing in unnecessary development. You asked for greater visibility into our plans, and with Magento 2.0, you will have that.
  • #38: I’ll close my presentation with this message: it takes an ecosystem to realize the potential of a platform. Magento’s success has always been directly tied to the talent, commitment, and passion of the community. Magento 2.0 was built with your input to meet your needs. But the release of the platform is just the beginning. By definition, a platform is meant to be built upon, and now it’s your turn to build. The resources are in place to help you…
  • #39: Our Magento U training team has developed a full curriculum of both merchant- and developer-facing courses to help you learn the platform from the inside out. Note that on demand courses are available right now to help you get up to speed fast. We hope you’ll dive in just as soon as you get back from this conference…I think you’re going to love discovering everything we’ve baked in to Magento 2.0.
