MLA IB contains citations for articles, books, book chapters, and dissertations. The type of material determines how you locate the full text. Articles may have a link to the full text or be available in print or through interlibrary loan. Books and book chapters can also be found in print or requested. Dissertations may occasionally be available online. If full text is not found, you can request the item through interlibrary loan. Librarians are available to help locate full text materials.

- 2. MLA IB contains citations , not complete (full-text) materials. Depending on the item, you may find the full-text (complete) item through: • a link to the complete article located in the article record (click the article title, then click “LinkSource” above the FHSU Tiger) • Finding the item in print in Forsyth Library (article, book or book chapter) • Finding the item freely available online (Google search for the article title in quotes) • Item Request: We will try to get the item (article, book, book chapter, dissertation, etc.) from another library through Interlibrary Loan (for local students) or Distance Services (for virtual students)

- 5. An example of finding full-text through a link in MLAIB: Click the article title, then click “LinkSource” just above the FHSU Tiger, to search our other databases for the full-text of the article. This article was found in Academic OneFile database
- 6. Some citations have a link to JSTOR database. These links MAY or MAY NOT lead to full-text articles; it depends on if we subscribe to that journal in JSTOR. If you see a JSTOR log-in screen, that means we do not have free electronic access to that journal article in JSTOR
- 7. If you see this screen, the complete article was not found in any of our databases. However, we may have it in print, or we may be able to get it for you from another library. - 9. To find out if a journal is available in print, search the online catalog. It is accessible on the library’s web site at www.fhsu.edu/library by clicking “Forsyth Library Online Catalog”
- 10. Search for the title of the journal, not the article title. In this case, the journal title is College English. Forsyth Library Online Catalog
- 11. If necessary, limit your results to journals by clicking “journal” in the Refine pane on the right. Now we know the library owns the print journal College English, but we still need to know if the issue that contains our article is available.
- 12. Click the Journal Title, then scroll down to see what issues/years the library owns, and where to find them in the library. The library owns v (volume) 1 (1939) to the present, which would include what we need: volume 27, issue 6, March 1966 The Call Number for College English is PE1.C6, and volumes published before 1994 are located in the basement of the library.

- 14. But you can request that we try to get the item for you from another library, by clicking “Request This Item” and completing the online form. Often, we can get the article electronically and e-mail it to you, usually within a couple of days. However, delivery time can vary depending on the item. Requests are usually free. If there is any charge for an item, you will be notified prior to the order being placed.
