Occupational Categories
in Engineering
What are the occupational categories in the engineering field
as recognized by EA?
Engineer professions are classified based on your
educational credentials. If you are an engineer, you must
choose the best and most appropriate ANZSCO
occupation code from all occupational engineering
categories.
If you want to move to Australia, you can do so through
the CDR. Engineers Australia recognizes three
occupational groups within the engineering team in
Australia.
Professional Engineer
It indicates you have the qualities to earn a customer's
trust. It indicates to a company that you are capable of
taking on a more significant amount of responsibility.
It necessitates respect among your coworkers. It's a
picture of pride and proportion of your hard-won
achievement that you see in yourself.
Engineers must complete a 4 year college degree, work
for a minimum of four years under the supervision of a
Professional Engineer, pass two escalating competency
exams, and get a license from their state's licensure
board to obtain a license.
PEs must then maintain and enhance their abilities throughout
their careers to keep their licenses.
PEs assist make us more beneficial, keep us safer, and enable all
of us to live preferable lifestyles than ever before by combining
their specialized abilities with their high standards for ethical
and quality assurance.
Without proof of skill, anyone could step in as an engineer a
century ago. In 1907, Wyoming passed the first engineering
licensure legislation to protect the public's safety, security,
and welfare.
To ensure public safety, every state now controls engineering
by allowing only Professional Engineers (PEs) to sign and seal
engineering designs and provide services to the general
public.
Engineers who want to use the PE seal must go through a
series of processes to prove their competence.
A four-year engineering degree from an accredited
engineering institution is required.
Pass the FE exam (Fundamentals of Engineering).
Under the supervision of a PE, complete four years of
progressive engineering experience.
Pass the PE exam (Principles and Practice of Engineering).
To concentrate on whole systems.
To create and implement new engineering techniques.
A Professional Engineer's primary responsibilities include:
To put leadership and management abilities into practice.
To explore engineering possibilities holistically, taking
into consideration environmental, community, and
societal concerns.
To solve a variety of issues.
Engineering Technologist
An engineering technologist is a specialist who works in
engineering to improve and use existing technologies.
Engineering technology education is more practical than
engineering degrees that are focused on imaginary science.
Using core engineering principles and specific talents,
technologists collaborate with engineers regularly on a
variety of projects. Engineering technologists frequently take
on top management roles in the sector or start their
businesses.
Technologists' work mainly focuses on the technical spectrum
closest to product development, production, building, and
engineering operating activities.
As an Engineering Technologist, you are skilled at utilizing
your extensive knowledge base to do both simple and
complicated engineering tasks.
You're an expert in engineering systems and communications,
with the ability to recognize and resolve complex
technological problems.
To concentrate on the system's interactions
An Engineering Technologist's primary responsibilities
include:
Modifying and adapting existing engineering techniques
To advance engineering technology
Engineering Associate
An Engineering Associate works under general supervision on
moderately complex engineering assignments that require
established procedures, methodologies, and criteria.
As an Engineering Associate, you put your mind and talents to
work protecting the systems, stock, and structure that your
business and Australia rely on.
to concentrate on specific aspects of the system
Working within the confines of the law and following
established norms and procedures.
An Engineering Associate's responsibilities include:
CDRReportWriters is an Australian-based consultant that
