Discovery filters
I have a huge list of devices in a CSV
file, but I don't want to monitor some of
the devices, like desktops. How do I
make it so that OpManager ignores
desktops when adding devices from the
CSV file?
All devices are getting added in
OpManager when I discover devices in
my network, but I only want a specific
type to be added. How do I discover
only the Windows servers in the
network?

Automate configurations and save time
Every time I add a SQL server, I set up the same set of services,
processes, and application monitors. How do I automate this in
OpManager?
I have grouped all MSSQL Servers in a 'Business view' for our NewYork
site, and more servers will be added in the future. Can I place these
servers in the NewYork group automatically?
I've set up a notification profile to trigger an email notification for
service down alarms. Can I assign this notification profile automatically
when a server is added to OpManager?
Interface discovery
Scenario
1
I only want to discover the ethernet interfaces from all
my switches. Can I select the required network interface
type while adding the switch? How do I do that in
OpManager?
Scheduled discovery
Scenario
1
I'm setting up a network in our new site. A bunch of
devices are activated on the network every week and I
want to monitor the performance of all these devices.
Can I automate the process of adding and activating
devices on the network?
Scenario
2
I've changed the interface name on some of our network
devices. How do I update the name in OpManager
without deleting and re-adding the devices?
Discovery reports
1. When was the last scan?
2. Who intiated the discovery?
3. How many devices were added?
4. How many devices were deleted?
5. How many devices are unmanaged?
6. How many devices are still pending?
Do you have an answer for the questions
below?
How do I fix devices getting discovered as
'Unknown'?
Top reasons for failure
Reason Solution
Port blocked by firewall Open the recommended port in the firewall
(Visit
http://help.opmanager.com/support$ports_used_by
_opmanager for a list of recommended ports)
Wrong password Update the password in OpManager
(Settings > Discovery > Credentials)
Password changed in your network but not
updated in OpManager
Test the credentials periodically and see
when the test fails
No device template Create a new device template for the
respective model
