This document discusses the coordination of overcurrent relays (o/c) in distribution networks with distributed generation (DG) and the application of fault current limiters (FCL) to mitigate issues caused by changes in fault current levels. It presents a novel method for optimal coordination using dynamic models to account for transient fault currents during disturbances, demonstrating the advantages of using solid-state and hybrid FCL designs. The results indicate that incorporating FCL can effectively restore relay coordination without altering relay settings even in the presence of DG.
