Post production investigation
- 2. In film, post-production refers to the tasks that must be completed or executed after the filming or shooting ends. This includes tasks such as the editing of raw footage to cut scenes, insert transition effects, working with voice and sound actors, and dubbing, to name a few of the many pre-production tasks. Post-production is the third and final step in film creation. It follows the pre-production and production phases. With digitization the post production process can be completes in much higher quality and the process will take up less time.
- 3. To create a horror trailer that has a professional finish, I will need to carry out specific tasks during my post production. Cutting the footage- cutting out unnecessary sections from the footage will allow to create short takes which then are all put together to form a professional feel to the trailer Speeding up/Slowing down- changing the speed of the different footage will help create an atmosphere and help to build up tension in the trailer. Speeding up some footage will give the audience flashes of horror to get their hear racing. Transitions effects- these effects are important to add when editing the trailer as they will bring all the footage together. I will add different transition effects such as fades and blink editing that will take us into the next shot. Sound- the sounds used are a huge part of a horror trailer as they are what creates the tension and atmosphere. The non-diegetic sound of eerie music and voiceover of the main character will be used to create the mood in the trailer. Lighting- the lighting is a vital aspect of the horror trailer as it allows us to follow the generic conventions and will give the footage a dark and isolated feel. However when recording outside if the natural lighting doesn’t give off this effect I will have to add a filter to the footage during editing.
