Evaluating students’ recognition of information. Examples of Objective Tests: Fill in the blank Multiple Choice True or false
Mnemonic Devices  Imagery
Evaluates students abilities to categorize, evaluate, synthesize, and integrate ideas.  Examples of Subjective Tests: Short answer Opinion essays
Providing students with information that should be included in an essay Make sure the students are aware of how the test is going to be scored.
Instruction that begins with the teacher modeling a certain process and gradually turning to task over to the students . Scaffold instruction in the writing process Teachers can show students model  essays and have notes written to show the types of information that should be included.
Brainstorming activity that can be preformed with the whole class, in small groups, or by individual students. Helps the students actively organize information that they already know.  Procedure: -Students list all the words that they can think of that is associated with the new topic. - Students will then group the words the have found by looking for words that have something in common.  -Students will then decide what to label each group.  CAN BE USED WITH BOTH OBJECTIVE AND SUBJECTIVE TESTS!
