INTRODUCTION
• The first commercial piece was 
produced during World War II at a 
factory in Bremen, Germany 
• Its inventor was Max Himmelheber 
of Germany 
HISTORY 
• Particle board has had an 
enormous influence on furniture 
design. In the early 1950s HISTORY
• An engineered wood product 
manufactured from wood particles 
such as saw dust, wood particles, 
shavings and resin 
DEFINITION 
OF 
PARTICLEBOARD 
• Has woody colour 
• Very smooth 
• Strength depend on its density, 
thickness, layered and adhesive used 
• High moisture absorption

Particleboard with density more than

than 9% surpassed the Malaysia

effects all the board properties 
except on TS 
Increasing resin content, increases 
all mechanical and improved the 
physical properties
RECOMMENDATION
Acacia Species can be used to replace 
rubberwood in particleboard industry 
Board density more than 600kg/풎ퟑ and 
resin content exceed 9% is suitable for 
manufacturing of particleboard from 
Acacia 
Malaysia should improve the forest 
plantation species project involving fast 
growing species 
UF can be used in particleboard 
manufacturing for interior furniture
