1. MATERIALS SHOULD SUIT WITH
STUDENTS’ LEVEL OF KNOWLEDGE
• The materials chosen must relate to reading and writing.
• Reading and writing are like one set, it compliments each
other. The more the students read, the better they write.
• Reading will enhance students’ vocabs, sentence structures and
therefore they will be able to love writing.
2. CONNECT READING AND
WRITING

the teaching objectives.
• By realising the teaching objectives, teacher will be able to
know the effectiveness of materials used to improve students’
writing development.
3. MATERIALS SHOULD REFLECT
ON THE TEACHING OBJECTIVES
• Students will be interested to write if they are influenced by
attractive teaching materials.
• Attractive materials must be picked wisely by the teacher so it
would adhere to students’ needs in writing process.
4. MATERIALS SHOULD BE
ATTRACTIVE
• Students will not feel bored if the materials used to improve
the quality of writing are flexible. For example, teacher may
use pictures for the first class and videos for the next class.
• Flexible materials allow teacher to have options in using them
in the classroom.
5. MATERIALS SHOULD BE
FLEXIBLE
