- 3. The Causative Relationship • In a causative sentence there is always some kind of "power" relationship. One person has the power to change or command another person's actions: • Causatives show a power relationship between the causer and the doer. • • Workers (B) will do what the boss (A) says. • Kids (B) listen to their parents (A). • A customer (A) can tell stafff (B) what to do.
