What is Causative ?
Causative verbs express the idea of somebody causing something
to happen or causing another person to do something.

• In a causative sentence there is always some kind of "power"
relationship. One person has the power to change or command
another person's actions:
• Causatives show a power
relationship between the causer and
the doer.
•
• Workers (B) will do what the boss (A) says.
• Kids (B) listen to their parents (A).
• A customer (A) can tell stafff (B) what to do.
Causatives Make
Make (force someone to do something)
Form :
Examples :
•The teacher made the students work in groups.
•I make someone repair my car.
•My father made me clean the car.
•The mechanic makes the computer work.

Get (convince or trick someone into doing something)
Form 1 :
Subject + GET/GOT (asking) + object (someone) + to verb-1 it
means me...
Examples :
1. She got him to read more. (Saya menyuruh dia membaca
lebih banyak).
2. I get her to open the window.
Subject (S) GET someone INFINITIVE object
Causative Get
• Form 2 :
Subject + GET/GOT (asking) + object (something) + Verb-3 it
means to be done = di....
Examples :
1. He got the window opened. (Dia meminta jendela
dibuka)
2. I get my taxes done once every year by an accountant.

Causative Have
Causative Have has the meaning of ASKING someone to do
something or ASKING something to be done.
Form 1 (active) :
Example :
1. I have him repair my TV.
I (ask) + Oject (somebody) + Verb-1 = me... (active)
2. I had John fix the car.
Subject (S) HAVE/HAS/HAD someone VERB WORD object
Form 2 (passive) :
Example :
1. I have my car reapired by a mechanic.
2. They had a company painted their house.
3. She had her nails manicured by a manicurist.
